Like every man in my family before my grandfather....

I will work until I die and I really don't give a shit.

It IS a little annoying paying into social security knowing now that it has been raped into nonexistence by every Congress since its inception though. I should be able to opt out of it in return for no benefits.

The national avg is still about $2.37 a gallon. That isn't cheap. It was $1.89 when Obama got into office. More like $1.50 is cheap...

of course for a starving high school kid that was expensive as hell

So, did that starving high school kid choose The Citadel because of the elegant cuisine? :?

There are a lot of $1.99 stations in the midwest, but looking around the country, they seem to be outliers. Especially in the Mid-Atlantic region where its still $2.50-$2.60/gal+.

Just to point out the economy didn't grow 5%. That is an annualized rate. Which means it grew about 1.25% in 3 months, and if it kept up that pace over a whole year would be 5%. Yet you have these idiots going around saying the economy grew 5%.

The last 4 quarters ANNUALIZED have been:
4th qtr 2013 2.6%
1st qtr 2014 -2.9%
2nd qtr 2014: 4.6%
3rd qtr 2014: 5.0%

That's about 2.3% in the last year. Not very good.

And regarding "Dow 18,000"

Weren't a couple of stocks removed from the DJIA group and replaced with "better performing stocks" a few years back?

And, in July of 2008 the average gas price was over $4.00 a gallon. Yes, it dropped off a cliff between July and January when Obama took office - but, $1.89 ain't exactly representative of the cost of gas during Bush's presidency. :coffee:

Wait, the price of oil/gas dropped a lot during a deep recession? Whoda thunk it?

Right. The price of oil tends to drop during a recession due to a lack of demand. It's been dropping lately thanks to the glut of production in the US. I never said the price only drops due to a recession. :coffee:
