Nope - how would you have prevented ISIS? How many Americans would need to be stationed in Iraq and Syria?

Kept troops in Iraq especially at the border during the Syrian red line debacle? Contain that BS?dbackjon wrote:Ibanez wrote: you can't blame bush for Obamas actions. If a soldier dies in Germany you wouldn't blame FDR.

So troops were withdrawn in 2011. How many Americans would have died in the three years? And then you want American troops on the front line keeping ISIS out of Iraq? Wow.andy7171 wrote:Kept troops in Iraq especially at the border during the Syrian red line debacle? Contain that BS?dbackjon wrote:

I have multiple friends in the navy and marines that openly resent what gas happened with all the hard battles won to secure Iraq. They. THEY it's friends in battle. They don't want it all lost. My friend from HS is going back. Willingly to kill ISIS. So his legacy isn't in for not. My one HS fiend is being re deployed. Tomorrow. Long time ago we had an Iraq war thread and I said it would take at least one generation of occupation to make it stick.Bronco wrote:1st Post and topic in this new forum....

In Europa Universalis IV, when you conquer the province of another nation and annex it as a part of your country it usually takes about 25-30 years for the risk of revolt to die down.SeattleGriz wrote:Long time ago we had an Iraq war thread and I said it would take at least one generation of occupation to make it stick.Bronco wrote:1st Post and topic in this new forum....

I was simply just speculating it would take at least a generation to pass because Hussein was such a violent dictator, the people had no spine. Figured it would take children growing up and being proud of their country to defend it with any sort of effort. Look at how the Iraqi troops run for cover or defect now.DSUrocks07 wrote:In Europa Universalis IV, when you conquer the province of another nation and annex it as a part of your country it usually takes about 25-30 years for the risk of revolt to die down.SeattleGriz wrote:

So Iraq was a conk mistake, Obama didn't get us out fast enough, now he is weak for not doing more, and we need to commit to 25 years to give democracy a fair chance to people we really should be nuking...because we don't want all to be for nothing in the end.SeattleGriz wrote:I was simply just speculating it would take at least a generation to pass because Hussein was such a violent dictator, the people had no spine. But yes, the next generation of Iraqis will know how to properly use their freedom that the previous generation has earned.
