I am amazed when I hear "can't make it through the right wing primaries"

2012 Nominee - Romney :?
2008 Nominee - McCain :?

Now admittedly they moved right during the primary, but they certainly are not the right wing of the party

I agree with this sentiment and hence why Christy is still a very possible choice (heck, Jeb Bush as well). The whacko right of the Republican party is given too much credit for being able to skew the primaries - people said Romney didn't have a prayer (pun intended) of getting through and lo and behold he did. If the whacko right was as strong as people make it out to be then guys like Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee would be the eventual candidates, and yet they never make it through the primaries that are supposedly so tilted in their favor.

This isn't a "liberal media witch hunt". Somebody in the Christie administration did something that they shouldn't have. Investigating to see who ordered what, who did what and who knew what is part of the process. No way this incident ends up helping him, best he can hope for is that the other reports clear him and this issue goes away.

Besides, the liberal media is the least of Christies worries, the hard part for him is getting through the GOP primaries. This was going to be a tough task for Christie even if everything went right, there are of lot of people that don't like the fact that he spoke well of Obama after Sandy.
 Of course it is a liberal media witch hunt. The media is choosing which "distractions" they broadcast...and the liberal media consistently runs with stories that denigrate conservative figures. That is their job.

Obama goes after his opponents almost every day...he is a vindictive SOB, with Holder acting as a lap dog enforcer solely of Obama's will rather than of American law. Christie gets accused of being vindictive and slowing traffic...and the media (and the stupid Liberal whack job lemmings) make it a big issue, while Obama gets away with the daily murdering the Constitution and attacking the freedom of the press and those same Liberal whack jobs dismiss it as business as usual.

You can't make this stuff up.
The media isn't conducting investigations into this issue. They weren't the ones who just issued the report clearing Christie (although they did report in it, seems kind of odd that they would report on something that cleared Christie if they were conducting a "witch hunt" at the same time) and they aren't conducting the two investigations that are on going. The bridge issue isn't a media creation and the only thing the media cares about right now is a missing airplane.

The bridge issue isn't a media creation and the only thing the media cares about right now is a missing airplane.
The media clearly whipped up the story into a frenzy. There are investigations by the bazillion going on all over this country every single day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. But, the media isn't focused on the vast majority of those...you'll never hear about them. Instead, they decided to focus on Christie for supposedly retaliating against a Democratic mayor. Funny how much air play that got compared to Obama's repeated attacks on just about everyone on the planet for ever crossing his path.

As for covering it now... :dunce: Too funny. It is similar to the eighth page apology you'll find in most newspapers. The damage has already been done. You, along with a whole host of people, will not believe Christie's report. If either of the other two commissions come to even a slightly different conclusion, despite their own bias, you'll find the Liberal media jumping on Christie for "lying" in this report.

This issue should not have been front page news for so long...there have been far worse transgressions that received far less coverage. The decision to cover something, and how it is covered, is a decision made by the media...and it is clear that we do not have a balanced media in any way shape or form.

So, yes. Christie will not make it through the Republican primaries in 2016. But, things look good for 2020. :thumb: ;)

The question might should be that but the one I was addressing was "could Christie win the nomination".

Besides, there are many many studies on why the election results were what they were. 2008 was pretty easy. Articulate young candidate saying all the right things versus Bush and McCain. 2012 can be attributed to a great get out the vote campaign, along with an inarticulate republican candidate and many normally republican voters staying home because the candidate wasn't believable as a conservative.

I'm not sure I understand, but I too don't believe Christie will get the nomination. Honestly, if he jumps in with both feet and can stand the heat, the next Bush will win it, IMHO. (not an endorsement, or opposition). He will have money falling out the car door. Question, can he convince people that he brings a level of competency to the office unlike his brother.

Rand Paul isn't part of the "whacko right".
I agree. But he is certainly going to be an outlier on many issues. Will be interesting to see how far he is willing to go on issues like the fed and social safety net issues.

pure speculation

if she was seriously considering not running she would already be throwing support somewhere

a last minute revelation that she wont run would be devastating to the Dem ticket in 2016- even a Clinton isnt that selfish
