Re: Angry, Murdering, God
Joe is acting like any other cult member confronted with a challenge. Arrogant, delusional, lashing out, lying, rationalizing...
You ever see Tom Cruise interviews where he defends that crock of shit? Joe is actually worse because he's been a victim since birth. He's deep in it. Catholicism is an indelible part of his nature.

Just fucking with you. I respect your opinions and knowledge. You are however giving Joe and the bible too much slack.
Allegory schmallegory. Like a lot of bible bullshit, the flood story was taken literally until science and logic and the freedom of skeptics to speak without being killed by the church, proved it to be bullshit. This happening rather recently. Apologists like Joe then retreated into the tired and disingenuous "it's just allegory and taken out of context" excuse.
Like him or not, Maher is dead on. It's one of many stories meant to scare the fuck out of, and control, people.
Think about it.

Understand, but you can't take historical context out of the equation. Not too long ago, every one of those stories was believed as fact until scientific and other evidence deemed them bunk. Now we are to believe the resulting excuses, primarily from the catholic church are solid? Bullshit. Just like the Greek myths, it all was and still is bullshit. We don't need em anymore.
The fact that they still exist and people still have faith with them has nothing to do with their validity and everything to do with 1700 years of brutal oppression for non-belief and the practice of brainwashing children from birth.

For a bunch a guys who collectively have spent about 5 minutes studying theology, you guys sure are a bunch of experts on the subject.Chizzang wrote:I love your posts...SunCoastBlueHen wrote:Sometimes Joe reminds me of Linus with his diligent, unwavering defense of all things Catholic.
Why don't you guys go back to those things about which you are experts, like talking out of your asses on subjects you know nothing about. Wait a minute. That's what you're doing here.
Hey, Cleets, why don't you tell us again about how the Rothschilds and other European bankers owners own the Federal Reserve?

Joe, I don't claim to be any kind of religious expert, I was merely commenting on the lengths you will go to paint the church in a positive light.JoltinJoe wrote:For a bunch a guys who collectively have spent about 5 minutes studying theology, you guys sure are a bunch of experts on the subject.Chizzang wrote:

For example, it would be perfectly reasonable (in my opinion) for someone to say, "The Catholic Church has certainly had its share of problems over time, but it is doing what it can to rectify those issues."
Your message, however, is more along the lines of, "The Catholic Church has had problems, just like any other organization and has been inequitably punished and vilified for these transgressions. Despite the unfairness of it all, near heroic responses have been made by the Church to quiet the dessenters."
At least that is how I hear it.
Your efforts to not say anything truely negative about the Church reminds me of this quote from Linus:
"Linus: [to Sally as she walks away with everyone else] Hey, aren't you going to wait and greet the Great Pumpkin? Huh? It won't be long now. If the Great Pumpkin comes, I'll still put in a good word for you!
[realizes what he just said]
Linus: Good grief! I said "if"! I meant, "when" he comes!
[calmly]
Linus: I'm doomed. One little slip like that could cause the Great Pumpkin to pass you by.
[calling out]
Linus: Oh, Great Pumpkin, where are you?"
That is all. What do I know, though.

Now Joe... lets not get too snarky
You sound defeated when you do that - keep your chin up
And I don't know much about the Rothchilds or whatever
but beyond the 12 regional Banks here in the U.S. very few people actually know the reach and influence of European banks inside our system after the ECB June 1st 1998 meetings... and confusing things further is the 1993 Maastricht Treaty which I think was designed to create central bank transparency - but it doesn't seem to have worked very well either.
But if you know - do tell
