We have kids practicing and playing football and basketball all day in the heat...yet you say they can't last picking plants in a field? 150-200 years ago most people had to grow and hunt for their own food...they had to do manual labor due to a lack of electricity, they had to walk to work/to get water/to do anything.

I've worked a farm during the summer...and my grandfather did it for about 90 years...he painted the roof of his barn when he was in his 90s. Farm work is nothing that can't be learned...and learned quickly...so there is nothing to your theory about Mexican people having experience doing that type of work that relates to anyone in Detroit not being able to do it.

People in America today are certainly capable of doing farm work...you are simply giving them an excuse to not do hard work.

People settle for the level of comfort they want. If the Feds hand out a roof and some scrap money for food, then that is what some folks will accept as a trade off versus hard work.
