There were 2 in Charleston and then 1 in Dorchester County. Dorchester County is the epitome of nut job. I hear you. The TP in SC, Northern VA, etc.. are different. Of course. That's why I used those words MY EXPERIENCE. But what does that say about the group when you can't go from one to another and it not be somewhat consistent. Shouldn't the platform be common across State and Local groups?
Because they aren't the same groups. That is what I am saying. Some of them don't even consider themselves to be tea party groups.

That's why a libertarian like Rand Paul and a nut like Rick Joyner are both considered "Tea Party" even though they have little to nothing in common, and their supporters DO NOT consider themselves as a part of the same group.

Even you mentioned Cruz, Bachman and Palin, but you said nothing about Rand Paul, and yet how many times do we hear the words "tea party favorite" when we hear about Rand Paul in the news? That's because he is supported by libertarian parties that have been labeled Tea Party by the media and nobody else.

I just left Paul out. I don't mind Paul fiscally.

Would you classify Paul as being representative of your impression of the "Tea Party"?

No. People like Palin and Cruz are what I think of. Hey, for as much as I dislike Mark Sanford, he's an honest fiscal conservative that doesn't bother too much with the social bullcrap.

Paul is an interesting figure. He's pro-life, ok. That's fine. He's against same-sex marriage however he believes it should be left up to the state (that I like). I like his stances on ending subsidies for energy companies (where applicable). I don't agree with everything, and it's impossible to, but I don't mind the guy.

Paul is a little too plain vanilla IMO for the voting public. In a culture enamored with the Kardashians and Duck Dynasty the majority want some flash in their candidate. Obama fit the bill because he was a rock star as a candidate, but hasn't delivered anything near what he promised. Additionally, I think the majority of folks who have always known a two-party system don't really know what to do with a candidate like Paul - he's neither left or right, but something of a tweener. For me that's ideal since I care less about the social side and more about the fiscal side. I don't think he stands much of a chance in the primaries, but we'll see. :twocents:

Is why there will never be fiscal sanity in this country

The tea party is a lot of things, but at its core they are for fiscal responsibility. They could be 100% straight laced without the whacko fringe, and people would still demonize them
Not true...
If they were simply fiscal reformers they would be hugely embraced
But they drag some pretty ugly baggage around with them

They have many (many) ideas
and only one of the ideas is good

Hell I would joine the tea party except that I agree with Groucho.

I won't join any group that would have me as a member

The GOP formula for 2016 is simple:

Christie or Bust.

But he is a "Tea Party Favorite TM"

Every media byline or talking head intro calls him that.

But in the political climate he would prefer, he is an open borders- free markets libertarian. How well do you think that would sit with the "Obama is a born in Kenya Muslim" tea party crowd?

What I am getting at is that the tea party- as it is portrayed in the media is a single minded political organization and it is not. There are groups that are classified as tea party groups that would actually say they are not affiliated with the tea party.

But the one thing that ALL of these groups have in common is that they are a threat to the entrenched major parties and their monied interests- and so they link them all together under the tinfoil hat umbrella - and they have been very successful in doing this- so much so that you get a Paul and a Joyner linked together like they are ideological birds of a feather.

Well then thank god for primaries, so he can show the entire nation that he is not with the Tea Party Wacko group.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

But the reason the Tea Party gained relevancy was through funding by...entrenched power.

FTR, I kinda like Paul. But similar to Paul Ryan he has benefitted from government programs too and now wants to kick the ladder down.
