Problem is that no one can tell me what the insurance costs will be next year. Taxes going up, regulation going up, and a big unknown for medical insurance does not make it very excited about hiring that next person. I, like many of my compatriots are looking at automation, outsourcing, etc.

They are in the rest of the industrialized world. At least at saving costs while providing comparable basic care with at least the same if not better outcomes. I should specify that I am referring to Wellmark/Blue Cross of Iowa which is a non-profit insurer. Their CEO's salary is about $2.6 million. The board gave him a $2.3 million bonus last year, up from $700,000 the year before. They also gave him the bonus before the end of the year last year so he wouldn't get hit with the higher tax rates. They bought a jet so he wouldn't have to fly commercial or travel by car when he visits cities around Iowa. They built a new multimillion dollar HQ in Des Moines.
