I answered kalm's question and offered a reason (GOP'ers despising convervatism) as to why Republicans may have just stayed home.89Hen wrote:We have a disconnect somewhere. You've clearly implied twice now that because Johnson didn't get more votes, that proves Republicans hate conservatives. Is that not what you meant to say?ASUMountaineer wrote:

To answer your question...Nope. The fact that Republicans nominated a self-described and proven "progressive" is enough evidence to show that Republicans despise conservatives/conservatism. You can also look at the GOP's policies since 2000. Would you like me to list them again?

Re: Post here if you voted for Gary Johnson
Basically, I offered two options to answer kalm's hypothetical: 1) if GJ had been the nominee then GOP'ers would have still come out, even though they disagree with his vision, to vote against Obama--or, 2) if GJ had been the nominee then some GOP'ers may have stayed home because they disagreed with his vision. I don't know that either would have happened, and I stated as such. It was a hypothetical, so I simply offered two possible options to answer kalm's question.89Hen wrote:That's a non-defensible position, but I don't think that's what he meant, and I don't think that's even true.UNI88 wrote:I believe he means that if Johnson had been the Republican nominee many in the party base would have stayed home rather than voting for him because Republicans despise conservatives/conservatism.

I said over and over that they despise conservatism because they nominated a self-described and proven "progressive" and that their actions since 2000 prove they despise conservatism. The fact that they would not vote for a candidate like Gary Johnson (or any candidate with similar policies/stances) were he in the R primaries just helps further the point.89Hen wrote:You've said over and over and over that you think Republicans hate conservatives because they didn't vote for Gary Johnson. Good grief, I don't want to relive the whole thing again, but this post is exactly what got me going in the first place. You make one comment that is fine, but then follow it up with a "fact" that's not even approaching a fact and does further your point that I was arguing against.ASUMountaineer wrote:I said over and over that they despise conservatism because they nominated a self-described and proven "progressive" and that their actions since 2000 prove they despise conservatism. Because they didn't vote for Ron Paul doesn't prove squat. For every good idea he had, he had a cooky one.
