The conks can't complain too much about campaign finance as big monied interest has been a core value for much longer than the Dems. And yes, both parties do it, and you can certainly make a case that the dems are more hypocritical...oh and yes, Ivy, you are correct about the piroutte.

Is that just opinion? Can you substantiate that in any way other than opinion? How long have unions been giving big time to Dems? Plenty of monied interest there. Heck, I love Harry Truman but even I have to admit he got his Senate seat thanks to Pendergast and his "monied interest" political machine that was identical to numerous other Democratic political machines that had been in operation well before the 30's. Your post seems to imply that Democrats have only just recently woken up to the reality of money and the part it plays in politics. When in reality both parties have been well acquainted with politics and money since, well, as soon as it became clear Washington wasn't going for a 3rd term.

Pretty sure I've conceded the union point several times before. This discussion has been about a different kind of monied interest that both parties have pandered to and which is now much more powerful than unions both from an access standpoint and a money standpoint. And unions have not been around nearly as long as big money and have been declining for decades. That's why the Democrats started courting Wall Street. I'd be fine with limiting their money too.

Are you saying Barry hoodwinked the great and powerful WS so badly that they switched horses in midstream, giving the lie to your answer to my "two-term flip" question?
