So far, it's just your run-of-the-mill left/right talking points.
Re: Obama vs. Romney Official Game Thread.
To a point, but I'm seeing a lot more common ground than I expected. Romney is holding his own so far vs. the great orator.∞∞∞ wrote:So far, it's just your run-of-the-mill left/right talking points.

Agree that Romney is doing well though.

How old is Jim Lehrer anyway? He's in danger of losing control of this debate with the overages both candidates are exhibiting.

I can't believe it but Romney is winning this debate and by a decent margin. Obama is having a difficult time explaining and defending his record and it seems like every solution he has is more government.

Honestly thought Romney won that. Was a pretty good debate and more interesting than the Kerry-Bush or Obama-McCain debates I remember. Romney attacked Obama and Obama never really went after Romney... just played defense the whole time. Not a gamechanger, imo... but, Romney won.

Re: Obama vs. Romney Official Game Thread.
Romney was solid, but didn't really offer anything new.
Obama was on the defensive all night, but isn't that the nature of debating as an incumbent?
The problem I have with Romney is that I don't really believe that he truly believes everything he says. Most times he seemed to me that he was regurgitating party talking points. If you agree with those points then you aren't going to vote Dem anyway. If you don't have a particular opinion either way, I don't think Romney is doing anything to sway you in that direction.
Whether you like the positions Obama takes or not, I'm not sure anyone can argue that he doesn't genuinely believe in them.

I read today that 60% of the country has never heard of Solyndra.

Holy crap, thought president Obama wanted this job. It looked like he was saying "vote for me because I already have the job."

Re: Obama vs. Romney Official Game Thread.
Just on style, no doubt Romney had the better of the night. He just looked very confident and very smooth out there, and he seemed to have a good command of what he was talking about, especially with the purely economic points. Obama just looked flustered at times and seemed like he had to reach for information. I can't recall if Obama was this lackluster of a debater in the past election or if he just looked so good compared to the disaster that McCain was.
With that said, partisans on either sides will see what they want to see. But Romney needs to act like this and seem animated like he did tonight - he's looked like a cardboard version of tonight for far too long on his campaign. Romney can't win if he continues to campaign like he has - but if he can project the kind of charisma he had tonight, he could make this interesting. I wouldn't bet money he could do that, but it's certainly possible.

I thought Romney could have poured it on a little more. I agree he won this one, but this economics stuff is his wheelhouse and it definitely showed. He almost screwed the pouch when it looked like he was going to go all "God and Country" on everyone. He still didn't sway me off of my Gary Johnson perch.

Re: Obama vs. Romney Official Game Thread.
It was quite obvious when he didn't use the 47% remark against Romney that he's saving everything for the next two debates. Obama didn't care about this and just tried not to screw anything up. Debate went by quick though. No commercials, 90 minutes. Damn why can't everything be like that?!

Re: Obama vs. Romney Official Game Thread.
The out of context 47% comment isn't going to matter. Obama is going to have to defend his record in these debates and he has nothing to defend.Seahawks08 wrote:It was quite obvious when he didn't use the 47% remark against Romney that he's saving everything for the next two debates.
