Hey bro, Auburn is about 4 1/2 hours from downstate, where I am. Are you coming downstate at all? Driving 4 1/2 hours to meet a guy who might kick my ass after a few minutes of conversation is a little too far.
BTW, Auburn is famous for two things: being on the Finger Lakes and for its well-known maximum security prison.
You are coming because of the Finger Lakes ??

I'm hoping to get to the city for a day and hit the Metropolitan and MOMA, then up to my cousin's cabin in Auburn. I'll pm you the day(s). Would very much enjoy having a couple with you. Maybe you can sneak away for an hour or two and view some of the excellent, catholic financed, art at the Metro.

It's really not possible to see both in one day. In fact, you really can't do either in one day. The Met is over 2,000,000 square feet. The MOMA is over 600,000 square feet. If you want to try to get to both, you have to plan in advance which collections/areas you want to see. If you dedicate yourself entirely to the MOMA, you might be able to do it in a day, depending on your pace, but you will feel rushed.
If you only have one night in the city, I'd say you got to go for a steak at Peter Luger's, but it's in Brooklyn and could be a haul.
Anyway, I''d definitely meet up with you and even buy your beverages, so you'd be coming all that. It's a breeze for me to get into the city, and I might be able to plan to work in our NY office on that day with a little head's up.
