An ancient species of aquatic dinosaur that somehow survived down through the ages, land locked in a Scottish lake is more believable that many of the stories taught in the bible. Just sayin'.SuperHornet wrote:As all the world knows, I don't believe in Evolution. But that has GOT to be about the dumbest way possible to try "proving" Evolution wrong. If you're going to try Nessie, you better have a proven unShopped pic before you go blabbing about something THAT crazy. There are better ways to go about disproving that faulty theory. Latching onto something like THIS loses all cred whatsoever.
But it's cool to believe in God sponsered rape, slavery, sexism, murder, incest and violence? Got ya.SuperHornet wrote:As all the world knows, I don't believe in Evolution. phylogenically speaking there is probably a difference between the loch ness and an alligator.Ibanez wrote:The alligator?kalm wrote:

Why do you think Nessie is improbable? I would assume the conditions of the lake have remained fairly constant over the years. Of course that is a grand assumption and I have no idea of any major shifts in environment, but just asking for fun.youngterrier wrote:phylogenically speaking there is probably a difference between the loch ness and an alligator.Ibanez wrote:
The alligator?
the short answer is:
alligator=possible and very probably
loch ness=while I won't say impossible, but extremely improbable.

Because no one has seen it and apparently there's only one, yet it's land-locked.....the more it's elaborated on the more improbable/impossible it becomesSeattleGriz wrote:Why do you think Nessie is improbable? *By the way, I am certainly not in agreeance with the method.

I could be wrong, but I believe all of those things have been done in the name of god. Many of them have, at various times and in certain religions been institutionalized into culture. No?Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:Ibanez wrote:

Before you make a statement like this you should probably know what you are talking about.
Total nonsense in your statement....period!

Well, if you believe in ice ages, then you should know that conditions changed drastically at Loch Ness many times.SeattleGriz wrote:Why do you think Nessie is improbable? The relevance of that fact in the discussion of whether the LNM exists is painfully nonexistent.Tod wrote:Well, if you believe in ice ages, then you should know that conditions changed drastically at Loch Ness many times.SeattleGriz wrote:

Only if you think that something so large could survive for thousands of years buried under a couple of miles of ice sheet. The answer is painfully obvious.youngterrier wrote:The relevance of that fact in the discussion of whether the LNM exists is painfully nonexistent.Tod wrote: Well, if you believe in ice ages, then you should know that conditions changed drastically at Loch Ness many times.

Have you read the Bible? God killed Egyptians, let Joshua kill complete tribes and sell the women into slavery. Adam and Eve had 3 sons and some how spawned the rest of humanity.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:Ibanez wrote:

How about all the killing, rape, slavery and crimes done in Gods name?
I charge you to read the history of the bible and the bible itself. THe bible itself, translated from Aramic to Greek distorted many many words. Modern understandings of words are different than the meanins and understanding of those words back when this was written. Hell, even at the time of Jesus, Messiah was considered to be different things to different people. Educate yourself before you come to me, calling me out. I've spent 7 years studying religions and thier texts, you don't know ****.
After Joshua died, the Israelites asked the LORD, "Which tribe should attack the Canaanites first?" The LORD answered, "Judah, for I have given them victory over the land." The leaders of Judah said to their relatives from the tribe of Simeon, "Join with us to fight against the Canaanites living in the territory allotted to us. Then we will help you conquer your territory." So the men of Simeon went with Judah. When the men of Judah attacked, the LORD gave them victory over the Canaanites and Perizzites, and they killed ten thousand enemy warriors at the town of Bezek. While at Bezek they encountered King Adoni-bezek and fought against him, and the Canaanites and Perizzites were defeated. Adoni-bezek escaped, but the Israelites soon captured him and cut off his thumbs and big toes. Adoni-bezek said, "I once had seventy kings with thumbs and big toes cut off, eating scraps from under my table. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them." They took him to Jerusalem, and he died there. The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem and captured it, killing all its people and setting the city on fire.
Joshua 6: 20-21Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.
1 Chronicles 21:9-14When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city. They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it—men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys
How about rape? The Lord said to Gad, David’s seer, 10 “Go and tell David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.’”
11 So Gad went to David and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Take your choice: 12 three years of famine, three months of being swept away[a] before your enemies, with their swords overtaking you, or three days of the sword of the Lord —days of plague in the land, with the angel of the Lord ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should answer the one who sent me.”
13 David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”
14 So the Lord sent a plague on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell dead.
Judges 5:30As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you
Slavery? They must be dividing the spoils they took: there must be a damsel or two for each man, Spoils of dyed cloth as Sisera's spoil, an ornate shawl or two for me in the spoil.
Ephesians 6:5However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.
If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever.
That does not negate the fact that GOD ORDERED THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS! They are saved through Christ? How merciful. Slaughtered by the Dad, Saved by the Son.For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Btw, I'm not an athiest. I was raised Roman Catholic and was very religious until I started studying and learning about religions. I like to think of myself as Enlightened.
