The Latino vote is a much sought-after prize in this year's presidential election, However, a keen pair of eyes discovered a gaffe on one such Republican site: the top banner featured a group of children that weren't Latino -- but Asian.
RNClatinos.com's mix-up was discovered by US News and World Report when a reporter there realized the stock photo, downloaded from Shutterstock, included search terms such as "asia," "asian," "interracial," "Japanese" and "Thailand" -- a strong sign the children in the photo aren't Hispanic.
The site is run by the Republican National Committee, which launched it to "have open communication about the goals and vision of the Republican Party" with Latino voters, according to a message posted to the site by Sharon Day, vice chairman of the RNC.
