So Gil, you own a farm? Family own a farm?

Pretty sure you can when you are 15 in Montana. 12 if you work on a ranch...oops...not any more if this passes.Skjellyfetti wrote:Gil Dobie wrote:
I'm sure you can spin it to sound quite a bit like the restrictions. Still had 14 year working on farms, Oh but 16 sounds quite a bit like 14.
Why aren't you up in arms about kids under 16 not being allowed to drive with full privileges?
Who is the government to say who can drive and who can't?! Stop the Nanny State DMV!! Let the parents decide if their kids are responsible enough to drive!!

Unfortunately YOUR definition isn't the one they're planning to use if this abortion of a proposal does become a bill.Skjellyfetti wrote:First, this isn't a bill.AZGrizFan wrote:Oh and FYI, this bill would have prevented both of my nephews from working their FAMILY farm because it was owned by their grandparents
Second, where are you getting that they wouldn't be allowed to work on a farm owned by their grandparents? The grandparents' farm would fit under my definition of family farm for sure.

Sure thing, so lets just have Government step in and expedite the process, huh?dbackjon wrote:CitadelGrad wrote:
It's all part of the plan to destroy the family farm and small rural towns. They environmentalists and government control freaks are trying to force everyone into large population centers so they can be more easily controlled.
There aren't any family farms anymore - they have been replaced by Corporate Farms. Small towns are dying on their own -they don't need the Government to do anything.

Since when?Skjellyfetti wrote:grizzaholic wrote:

Nope.
In Montana you have a restricted license until you're 18.
They even regulate the hours you are allowed to drive until you're 18.

Not sure. Got mine on my 15th birthday. Remember people in 8th grade having theirs.grizzaholic wrote:Since when?Skjellyfetti wrote:

Montana the Nanny State.

I got one when I was 14, for ranch stuff, then when 2 weeks after I turned 15 I got my actual one in the mail. Never had any restrictions.Grizalltheway wrote:Not sure. Got mine on my 15th birthday. Remember people in 8th grade having theirs.grizzaholic wrote:

Don't even remember what it's for or the exact words. But it's this upper middle aged guy talking about how when he was a kid he used to ride his bike down this road he was standing on WITHOUT A HELMET. Then he says something about the HUGE risks he used to take. Like a kid riding a bike without a helmet is a HUGE RISK.
And the character is the commercial was absolutely serious. That was being seriously portrayed as REALLY taking a risk.
To me that says it all. It's over for this country. It's just a matter of time. And probably not that much. We have really turned into a truly pathetic population. And to think we started off with people who were willing to cross oceans in wooden ships with sails then cross a continent in covered wagons enduring all sorts of risk and hardship.
Now we worry about riding our bicycles without helmets or driving a mile down the road without our seat belt buckled. Pathetic.

Did I just agree with JSO?

Hmmmmmm.JohnStOnge wrote: And to think we started off with people who were willing to cross oceans in wooden ships with sails then cross a continent in covered wagons enduring all sorts of risk and hardship.

Leave it to anal gel to try and equate legal residents moving freely across their own country to illegal border jumpers invading a foreign land.Skjellyfetti wrote:Hmmmmmm.JohnStOnge wrote: And to think we started off with people who were willing to cross... a continent... enduring all sorts of risk and hardship.

Yeah, go ahead and try to equate 17th & 18th century norms to today.Skjellyfetti wrote:Well, I really don't want to get into a separate argument...Baldy wrote: Leave it to anal gel to try and equate legal residents moving freely across their own country to illegal border jumpers invading a foreign land.
But, our settlers weren't moving freely across their own country. They were occupying territory of others nations (including Mexico) and Indian tribal land.

No kidding. Driving in rural america in farm country is a lot different than driving rush hour in a major city. Parents should be able to decide if their kids are responsible enough to drive. Keep on spinning.Skjellyfetti wrote: Who is the government to say who can drive and who can't?! Stop the Nanny State DMV!! Let the parents decide if their kids are responsible enough to drive!!

I wasn't equating. Hence, "kinda."AZGrizFan wrote:

Who moved into the territory of a previous tribes before them. Various tribes fought other tribes for land long before them. Mexico was formed by invading Spaniards. The Aztecs and Maya all conquered others and took their land. Just depends on where you want to start the spin.Skjellyfetti wrote:Well, I really don't want to get into a separate argument...Baldy wrote: Leave it to anal gel to try and equate legal residents moving freely across their own country to illegal border jumpers invading a foreign land.
