And as noted, Utah has the highest percentage of 15-24 yr olds, so given that I'm only mildy surprised that they came out on top.

Actually I would have guessed Alaska, and they're listed at #2.
-I believe they have the highest percentage male to female ratio of any state.
-Look at their top industries (in no particular order)- oil & natural gas exploration & drilling, fishing, tourism, logging, mining, military..a lot of majority men roughneck industries.
-Nov-March most of the state is brutal cold with little sunlight. Got to have stuff to keep you entertained indoors.
8 of the top 10 porn consuming states are red and Utah also happens to be the #1 gay porn consuming state. Conks need to let their hair down a little, get down with their bad selfs. Santorum is jeopardizing the conservative closet gay porn vote.
How many of those states does Cap'n Cat visit? He might be skewing the results. :coffee:

Firstly, if you happen to consume the most porn, then it wouldn't be surprising if you were the leader in most types of porn.

Secondly, if the Harvard study claims that, (I didn't see where it says that from the 2 links) again, they are using subscription data from only ONE porn site, so I'll take the entire study with a grain of salt.

For a more credible study, they should have analyzed subscription data from numerous porn sites. If they had, the results may have come out the same or nearly the same. Or they may have come out very different.

Santorum and Gingrich Split Evangelical Vote in Southern Primaries

March 14, 2012

Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich finished in a virtual tie for first place among evangelical voters in both Alabama, where evangelicals comprised 75% of the electorate, and Mississippi, where evangelicals accounted for 80% of all GOP primary voters. Santorum was supported by 35% of evangelicals in both states compared to 32% for Gingrich, with Mitt Romney placing third.

My take is there's idiots that actually take this study with more than a grain of salt.

Again note that Utah has the highest % of 15-24 yr olds.
-If they'd broken down porn viewing rates by age group, per capita, the results likely would be very different.
-If they'd broken it down viewing rates among those with internet access, per capita (since states have differing rates of internet access per state), the results likely would have been different.
-Again If they'd used more than one subscription site the results might have been different.

No, he won't get the nomination. It will come down to California I think. A brokered convention is not what they need, that shows no unity ( IMO). Romney is the best they have.

That is not what Santorum is targeting.

Don't understand your angle at all here Gil? Are you saying that porn leads to violence against women in society and that Jon, by calling out this idiotic rambling by Santorum supports ACTUAL violence?

I've seen you post for a long time and can not believe that you would take such a shaky position as far as logical thinking goes.

Hollywood puts out a pretty fair amount of movies that have violence against and by women as well as men. Gotta agree with you here, Jon.

I understand Santorum's position, but the SCOTUS has made it clear obscenity is regionally subjective: There can be no federal standard. Child porn is easily defined by age, but asserting that a fishnet stocking covered leg is obscene, as AGS's former owner once tried to argue, is simply illogical. Enforcement should be left to the states.

...ran into this at Scotsman.Com...had a chuckle...

Cheeseburgers adverts same as sex and violence say SNP
ADVERTS for cheeseburgers should join sex, violence and bad language and be banned from TV before 9pm, according to the Scottish government.

The SNP claim that making it illegal to show advertisements for foods with high fat, sugar or salt content before the 9pm sex and violence watershed will protect the health of children and reduce obesity.

Public health minister Michael Matheson has written to the UK government calling for the introduction of such a ban, which would affect adverts for fast-food chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King and KFC.
So, when does "obscenity" become wordspeak for "social engineering"?

Funny how government is adamant about controlling humanity's baser needs; air, water, food, & sex...

In fairness, I'll have to admit to a near-prurient attraction to cheeseburgers... :?

Salty, hot, dripping cheese sauce... 8-)

Smooth, creamy, Mozzarella... 8-)

Or overflowing with rich, blue-veined goodness... 8-)

And mouth-filling spicy Jack...

No, wait!!!

Amen brother. NEVER try and grab a quick fuck with a cheeseburger that is hot off the grill. Once bitten, twice shy my friend.

I love cheeseburgers but you have got to be cautious with them.
