Gay Pride Parade organizers "Like the KKK"

Morons leading the morons. :ohno:

Catholic church has been hiding and creating serial pedophiles for centuries, yet gays are the problem.

More bigotry

Image
Just when you thought Minnesota’s Catholic bishops couldn’t sink any lower into the cesspool of anti-gay bigotry, Saint Paul and Minneapolis Archbishop John Nienstedt posts a letter to the local diocesan website that injects a prayer for marriage discrimination into the Catholic Mass itself.

Nienstedt writes that he is “pleased” to offer the following prayer, “meant for use within the Holy Mass as part of the Prayer of the Faithful,” for the explicit purpose of “assist[ing] in the strengthening of our state-wide efforts to defend marriage in our civil constitution:”

Heavenly Father,

Through the powerful intercession of the Holy Family, grant to this local Church the many graces we need to foster, strengthen, and support faith-filled, holy marriages and holy families.

May the vocation of married life, a true calling to share in your own divine and creative life, be recognized by all believers as a source of blessing and joy, and a revelation of your own divine goodness.

Grant to us all the gift of courage to proclaim and defend your plan for marriage, which is the union of one man and one woman in a lifelong, exclusive relationship of loving trust, compassion, and generosity, open to the conception of children.

We make our prayer through Jesus Christ, who is Lord forever and ever. Amen.

The archbishop’s letter also “encourage[s] the posting of the prayer within Eucharistic Adoration chapels, along with an encouragement to adorers to pray for the success of the amendment and all efforts to strengthen marriage.”
This, from a group drowning in a priest pedophile scandal. :ohno:

Joe, I don't blame you for being in attack mode at times, defending what you believe. And much of the time, you provide extremely well reasoned and eloquent arguments. But then the rug gets pulled out from under you by church leadership. :ohno:

He's a dishonest excuse-maker for criminals of the worst kind.

And for all you who are pissed at me for my posts - kiss my ass. The catholic church is a scourge on this planet and have been since Constantine flipped a coin in the 300's. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they do some admirable charitable stuff, but that don't give them a pass to rape children and discriminate against people.

I don't understand the whole "Gay pride" thing.

I like pussy and I like my wife's pussy in particular, yet I don't organize parades, walk around drawing attention to it, or generally acting the fool because of my sexual preference. It would seem to me that the best way to engender support for a 'cause' is to seem as attached to normalcy as possible, to promote cogent reasonably fact based positions, not to form groups based on a 'culture' and act the fool in public.

Case in point: My religious teachings and upbringing led me to oppose gay marriage and civil unions. However, the maid of honor in my wedding, who is in a committed 25+ year relationship, showed me why she and her partner (who are both wonderful people and don't act "gay" so you'd hardly know it) aren't on a level playing field as it pertains to taxation, estate planning, equitable distribution of assets, or next of kin as it relates to pulling the plug, among other things. She changed my mind by demonstrating the unfairness of the system as to why my wife and I have a far better situation that she and her partner even though they have been together 25+ years and my wife and I have been together 10+ years.

Guys, keep it in the bedroom and to yourselves, and for god's sake don't parade the freaks out in public because they become your defacto spokesmen. You stand a much better chance of winning hearts and minds by being real people, not caricature freaks.

I told her the second portion of the earlier statement this morning. :D

She doesn't- to my knowledge- read these forums, and that's a good thing. However, she knows perfectly well (as you are aware) what she married.

You're in the majority.....no one has ever discriminated against you because you are a heterosexual male. I wouldn't expect you to "understand".

I've never understood why gays need a parade. Is it so they could dress up like Sailors, Indians, Bikers and Butterflys; prance and skip down main street to Gloria Estefan music while sipping Mai Thais? :coffee:

1. Ibanez, you've clearly never been to an actual pride parade... while those elements are there... the festivals and parades aren't really much different than any other town festival/parade

2. Pride-festivals are hold-overs from a time (literally 10 years ago or less in many places) when it was dangerous to be "out" as a gay person in any city in America... The parades were a way of saying "we are here, and we aren't going away" (they were an outgrowth of the first parade, which a response to the Stonewall riots in NYC)

3. It wasn't that long ago where gays were cloistered in a handful of gay bars in a town (hell, it's still that way in many cities today) it was basically like living underground... a horrible way to have to live... Pride was the one time a year when they could be as "flaming" as they wanted.

I agree that the guys in the gold lamme speedos probably aren't the best advocates of "we're here, we're just like you, we'd like equal rights too" - however, given the distance this civil rights movement has traveled in 20 years... it's hardly surprising those folks are still around. What's interesting is to see - especially in the last few years - is how often I see people like this getting shit from other gays about the image they are giving their community...

Pride in the Twin Cities (one of the largest in the US) is actually a hell of a fun time... Minneapolis goes all out like they do for many other community festivals... it's a huge family thing - you see more strollers and families than you do leather boys or biker broads...

Hell - I wouldn't be surprised, now that DADT has been repealed to see the military have booths there recruiting this year... most of the big companies in town (Target, Best Buy, etc) have booths... right alongside political booths, sexual health booths (free tests and the like - again, a holdover from the closeted days)
