A bold-faced lie. Why do you two keep on saying this stuff?

2011 was at least NDSU's third year of playoff eligibility. The fact that you were getting your asses handed to you in your first two years of being playoff eligible doesn't erase the fact that NDSU was still eligible.

It was our fourth? 1 every 4 years would be nice, but that wont be enough for this team.

Lets look at some history to lend perspective to the NDSU achievement. The Montana Grizz, a formally dominate FCS team is a good team to look at.

The first time we see the Montana Grizzlies, affectionately known as the bad bison because they cant stop an option attack, in the playoffs is 1995, 17 years after they were established. Since then the bad bison have amassed an impressive 2-5 record. This gave the perception western FCS football was weak because that record speaks more to the quality of the competition in the BSC and West in general than it does to the quality of the program. The perception is Montana was simply the best of the runner-ups.

Here is the record:

1995 won Good start guys! What a hoot!
1996 lost
1997 lost
2000 lost to an option team
2001 won
2003 Knocked out of playoffs by NDSU BISON
2004 lost
2008 lost
2009 NDSU BISON become NCAA playoff eligible
2010 Not in playoffs because of D2 games at WGrizz stadium
2011 NDSU BISON WIN FCS NATIONAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP!

The BISON are changing the perception about western football, winning impressively in the MVFC competing with the eastern teams, staying away from lower division schools, winning when it counts and winning the FCS Championship in only their 4th year of competition. The NDSU BISON are Champions and have an impressive 9-3 record in national championship/Bowl games.

In addition the Champion NDSU BISON have the divisions best traveling fan base and play in the prestigious and Insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome. The phone is ringing off the hook as schools accross the country attempt to book The BISON!! Its a big payday for both.

Just having NDSU play at your school lends a terrific bragging right!

JBB wrote:The idea that NDSU would get blown out by any of the schools calling for a game is absurd. Sure it could happen, but think more like Gophers @ UNC last season. Gophers lost 19-17, good football game. Sure a Gophers @ Michigan is possible but not probable.

Right now NDSU is holding out for big money. Thats what it takes to buy the BISON off a home date. Thats something UND needs to consider when trying to get on the schedule.

If the money is right and the game is signed it will be with the Coaches blessing, no other way. NDSU will not play any game they dont think they can win.

Thats another secret to the NDSU Scheduling Model. :thumb:

Since JBB doesn't get his facts right here are the facts:

2003 NDSU did NOT knock Montana out of the playoffs since NDSU was a DII team so win or lose by Montana the game doesn't count towards the 7 DI thats right Division ONE wins.
2008 NDSU becomes playoff eligible and finishes the season 6-5.
2009 NDSU's second year of playoff eligiblity compiles THREE wins.
There is your facts JBB.
2011 GWFC Co-Champs!!!!
Now Playoff Eligible!!

Classy. :ohno:

I know, they were beaten during the regular season by the then D2 NDSU BISON. That loss kept them from the playoffs.

Montana was in the playoffs in 2003. They lost in the first round to Western Illinois due to a blocked kick in the second overtime. :coffee:

The bad bison cant be ignored and it would be naive to not talk about them. I know what is being said may not please you and some others, but the sting of truth hurts. Your lack of meaningful input and obsession with personal attacks proves that. Your bizarre behavior is causing you to look rather uneducated and certainly brings into question your upbringing. None of this is helped by your constant, hateful posturing. :ohno:
The problem with Montana is their market. Its tapped out. The program is as big as it can get. Thats not the case for NDSU. Just as the market made it impossible for NDSU NOT to move their program to D1, its going to be impossible not to tap the markets full potential. Lakes knows this too.

Montana moved to the top of the big sky as other, more prosperous programs left for bigger and better things. That left Montana in a pretty weak conference that has allowed them regional success. The 2-5 "chipper" record (sic) shows them to be from the weaker bracket. Sure they have had success but not against the best on the national stage. Their success has been on the regional stage.

NDSU on the other hand is playing in the more competitive MVFC. Winning there helps them grow and evolve. Thats why they have been in the playoffs the last couple years and are 1-0 in the National Championship game as well as reigning FCS Football Champions. The BISON also have an impressive track record against the BCS and FBS teams they have played. All of this on the national stage.

Its that type of national success that takes advantage of market potential. Other programs want to benefit as well so the phone is ringing off the hook at the NDSU Conglomerate's luxurious and prestigious Sports Complex located deep under the stands of the Nations beloved Fabulous Fargo Dome. Case in point: Montana has called too.

Great find Lakes!! I see they are running through their scheduling models, just as The BISON Brain Trust is doing.
North Dakota State is the school that keeps popping up in conversations. If you've got to play one, at least play the defending FCS champ.
