Kalm, what's your take on the video?

I see a bunch of protesters egging on the cops, and them doing their job quickly and safely without engaging the crowd. Looks textbook to me. :coffee:

Scary thing is Kalm thinks the ex-Marine makes a good case. God bless our servicemen and women, but just because somebody is a vet doesn't make them an expert in politics or policing. :coffee:

 The Park Police were supposed to start evicting the tent people yesterday but only gave out more warnings. There is a hearing this morning on the next action. Protests are fine, shanty towns on park property are not.

Well thank you form relaying my thoughts!

1). I drive past occupy Spokane, take one look at the rag, nerdy mob and immediately have the same thoughts that you consk do. :ohno:

2). Violence and vandalism perpetrated by any group legitimizes violence from the other side. Bad idea. :coffee:

3). Having close family in law enforcement, I empathize with the cops. It's a thankless job. :notworthy:

4.). The Occupy movement has been successful in remaining visible and highlighting some inenquities in our system and without the initial backing of monied interests like the Koch's, Phil Graham, and Karl Rove. :twocents:

5). The police have over reacted to this situation in some instances as well.

6). The marine here admits he went over the top, but there was a back story that set him off. :ugeek:

7). It's good for you conks to realize there are members of this movement who have walked the walk and who aren't out of work hippies or upper middle class college kids with iPads. He risked his life and fought for your right to disagree with him. :thumb:

Disagree. Their message was compromised from the start, like most liberal movements, by the split in protesters. Have a anti-war march and you get 50% anti-war, 17% socialist movement, 13% anti World Bank, 10% gay rights, 8% pro-choice, 6% anarchists... The only reason they are mentioned in the news now is if there is court or police action to move them out of their tent villages.

Have they really remained visible?

I will freely admit I don't watch Foxnews, CNN, MSNBC, etc... but I have heard next to zero about the movement the last couple months. There was an "Occupy Des Moines" or something like that infront of the Iowa capitol about 2 months ago that lasted about 2 days and the "protesters" were then found to be in violation of a couple zoning codes with the way they had their "camp" set up and were disbanded. That had about 2 days of media coverage and that was it.

I realize that the "occupy" "movement" isn't really aimed at the "mid-west life style" and what not, but how visible is it really?

EDIT: To be honest I almost completely forgot about it until I saw this thread again about 5 days ago.

Hen, check your math. That adds up to 104%. Subtract 6.93% (all of the anarchists plus a few fringe gays) and you'll be close enough to claim rounding error!

This is still going on? Anyone read the article about how the Occupy management has misued funds? I'll have to find it but Ithought it was funny. They have $100k in savings, only to be used as bail money. Seriously though, this protest group is becoming more and more of a nuisance. They made thier point, now they are ruining the spirit of peaceful protests.
Turns out I might be a little gay. 89Hen 11/7/17

interesting survey out of San Fran
http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollRep ... ab1639f64d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One would think that the Occupy movement and San Francisco were made for each other. Perhaps at one time they were, but a new Survey USA poll shows that even the City by the Bay has its limits. The poll of 500 adults in the San Francisco area — surely the most progressive-friendly poll sample ever taken — shows that almost half of those who supported the Occupy movement in general now have changed their minds. [...]

According to this poll, Occupy support in the Bay area would have been 58/34 at one point. Now it’s 35/57, which is a flip of 46 points in the gap. Combining support and opposition numbers, Democrat support for Occupy is now 40/56, and even among self-professed liberals, where 27% have switched to opposition, it’s only 52/35. Among San Francisco adults. Note too that the movement has not gained converts in anything like the numbers they are alienating, which means that the longer they go, the weaker they are getting politically. Via Hotair.com
In other N California news
OAKLAND — Faced with ever-increasing violence between police and Occupy protesters, Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is seeking help from a new source: Occupy Wall Street.

Quan plans to ask leaders of the national Occupy movement to convince their Oakland cohorts to shun violence during their protests over economic inequality, officials said Monday.

The Reynoso Report on the UC Davis pepper-spraying incident is out. It takes 190 pages but guess what - the administration and police got it wrong.
