I like Paul. The guy has his faults but I like his honesty and his willingness to create waves. Also, he subscirbes to the Austrian School of economics, which I'm starting to learn about and think that it might be better than Kenysen (sp?) economics.

I agree that Keynesian economics has clearly been shown to be fatally flawed in many ways - it's hard to argue otherwise given the most recent examples of its shortcomings. I'm not entirely comfortable with the Austrian view, though. I think they take the good parts of the Chicago School of thought (Friedman, not Obama) and then get a little crazy. That's probably what appeals to Ron Paul - he likes to flirt with crazy every now and then.

I think you're underestimating the bat shit crazy wing of your party. The fundies are a block so if they can be splintered in the short term to give Mitt the nomination then called back into the fold by one of their own being nominated VP, it makes sense.
