Yep, Lennon was a smart man. Interesting how this is the exact opposite of christian/catholic dogma that reveres suffering and treats it as a virtue.

That cunt Mother Theresa withheld treatment from the dying in her "hospices" because she believed suffering brought people closer to god. :dunce: She was one of the great world wide villians of our age - right up there with Stalin, Hitler, Pope Benedict, The Catholic Church and Ronald Reagan.

She raked in tens of millions for the catholic church, yet her patients suffered in utter squalor. That image of Cunt Theresa supposedly administering to the poor in Calcutta was marketing gold. It was the catholic church's Marlboro logo. :ohno:
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Lennon was a fraud when he was alive, and now a fraud when he's dead. And his music sucked then and it sucks now. He's like the milli-vanilli of the hippy crowd. :coffee: 8-)

Geez, for a guy who grew up Catholic, you really missed a lot things.

Christianity doesn't "revere" suffering or treat it as a "virtue." What it does teach is that suffering is part of the human condition and it can help us grow closer to truths, become more empathetic of others who are suffering, and deepen our understanding of our own humanity. Suffering can help us become better people, more receptive and generous to others, especially those who are suffering or in need.

It's not that suffering is to be embraced; it's simply that it is not to be avoided at all costs. When you gain that understanding, it is even possible to experience suffering and still be happy, at the same time.

Jesus died for our sins. :thumb:
I don't know what God he believed in. I would have loved to have the chance to kick the idea around with him, like we've had the last number of years. He was only 40 years old when he died. Whatever he was thinking at the time, I'd guess that God saw him in the distance trying to find his way home, and ran all the way out to greet him -- as explained in the Prodigal Son, one of Christ's parables that Lennon said he was beginning to grasp shortly before he died.

“Some of [Christ's parables] are only making sense to me now, after a whole life of sitting in church or school. It was just moany, moany, moany for years, and then I hear it again and I think, God, that’s what he means.” -- John Lennon

You know, I don't know if some of the younger guys here know that, prior to 1980's Double Fantasy album, John Lennon had pretty much been out of the public eye for nearly six years. He released no new music and voluntarily retreated from the public eye -- no interviews, no public appearances. He wrote a song about his "exile" from the big time to explain what he had been doing.

For D1B -- note his reference to Plato's Allegory of the Cave. :thumb:

LOL. How true. We used to call the "Double Fantasy" album "Half a Nightmare."

A perfect album for Itunes, though.

What is your point? Also, aren't the Stones still around?
The problem is that it has been perpetuated for years that Lennon was a liberal, when in fact he was conservative.

Only NOW is it problem.

Let me sum it up nicely for you:

Not to sound like a bitter dick, but it looks as if the liberal offense was not ready for the mythical Lennon to switch sides and crush 40.2 million hippies hearts and vinyl collections with one swift blow.
Might have crushed the liberal hippie hearts, but the art that was on the vinyl will last pretty dang close to forever. ;)
