I have a great fear you are 100% correct. But I still believe that maybe there is a great leader among us who can stand up and get people passionate about what we need to do in order to be the generation we have to become.

Maybe Pres. Obama could be that guy? He's a smart guy. Can he see what needs to be done and, in a Nixon-goes-to China reversal, give it to us straight? Stand up, Mr. President. People like you, even though you've been a big disappointment. Grab the mantle of greatness. Beats proceeding down the road of mediocrity he's traveling. If Pres. Obama adopted this as his cause, people would really believe it had to be done, because they know he would be going against his instincts. People knew we had to open relations with "Red China" when Nixon said so, because we knew he was going against his instincts and he had seen the truth written on the wall.

Obama got elected by the "entitlement" groups and he will do what is necessary to get re-elected. That means more spending. It is really that simple.

BTW, enough about the Greatest Generation. Just as many racists, crooks, philanderers, and losers from that time as there are from this time. The only thing that separates them from today's folks is that the government identified some common enemies and forced people into confronting those enemies through the draft. Today, try as they might with Bush's Iraq, Obama's Libya, and Bushbama's Afghanistan, our government just can't identify an enemy that is bad enough to get people fired up enough to make sacrifices...all while our leaders stuff their coffers.

No one minute speech by anyone is going to change that. It will take a groundswell of ordinary people to make any change…and we see how well that is going.
