Gads, they've turned our field into a Christmas ornament. The maroon looks red :ohno:

looks good though... does it not come with "Texas State" or "Bobcats" wrote in the endzone? Do you have to paint that stuff on it?

From what I understand, all of that is woven into the turf. They are putting Texas Sate in each endzone (before we had Bobcats in one) and the super cat at mid-field. Between the 20-30 on one end will have the SLC logo and the other Jim Wacker Field.

They just started laying it on Tuesday. Supposed to be done by next Friday. I guess all the words/logos will be after that. Not sure.

They were to the 50 as of Thursday, when this was taken. They will outline the field in the maroon.

Guess they will have to come back next year after they get the N endzone bowled in. The track will be removed after that (and they finish the new T&F stadium)

We had fieldturf installed a few years ago, (not duraspin though) they cut out the logos and lettering and sew them in. When it is done you will never know

Glad you guys improved your field for Taiwan's senior year in 2011! :thumb: :D Looks good!

After a couple day delay from all the rain, they've got the grass cleared out and the 18" of dirt/sod removed and leveled. Today they started in on digging the draining lines and whatnot. Slowly but surely, it's gettin' there.

Some more up to date pics of them adding the lettering & Logos. You can see the Super Cat lying on the field (kinda folded over) around the 20-30. The video (at the bottom) is a bit weird but they put the bar in for a give-away contest

I preferred it too. My school last year was one of two, out of nine, that had grass still. Now that I'm gone, they get turf.

The X in Texas State looks like the Under Armor logo.

Yeah, it kinda does. The U went to a new font last year, developed by some student. It's called "Wacker" (as in Jim Wacker Field @ Bobcat Stadium). You can see it better on the U's Athletic site.

I doubt that's the case. I think I downloaded that one after Texas State announced theirs. Someone just made a cheap knockoff. But yeah, they're almost, if not, identical.

Found this from the announcement last Fall

"As a result, the new typeface found in the athletic primary logo for Texas State Athletics will change to a font called "Wacker," in honor of Texas State's former highly successful football coach and athletic director. A Texas State student originally designed the typeface in 2003. Since then, Jeff Davis, an assistant professor in Texas State's communication design department, along with a marketing committee completed the design and has spent several months determining usability, stance, and perception"

Here's how it is supposed to look when it is done. The track will have to be there at least 2 more seasons (maybe just 1 if all goes well.) When it is removed it will be awesome

Looks a lot like what my school's will be when finished. About the same color maroon.

Field done, probably a little late because of all the rain we got last week form 'Alex'. Looks like the pics were taken after all the rains subsided. That would have to be Saturday, at the very least.

Wacker Field

God, I can't wait until the track is gone and the N EZ is bowled in.

If you could get your stands going the full length of the field that would be an amazing stadium

It will, eventually. After this season they will bowl in the north endzone and partial track removal. I think the next stage, after that, is extending the East stands upward and adding suites, etc to that side. The last phase is the bowling in of both sides to meet the EZC on the south side. I could have the last 2 phases reversed. I'll have to check

I remember seeing the plans for it.

I don't mind the track as much as others do, but if TXSU is looking to move up, that will undoubtedly need to go, I don't know how BSU has kept theirs like they have. It could be kept, and add the first section of seating over it making it removable but that is a huge task and not worth the costs of having to put it in and take it out.

My question, and this may be a dumb/easily answered question by the drawings but, with that building being built around the track what are you going to do with all of that now empty space? Are the new seats going to the building and meeting up with it, or what?

:?:

Ok, the North endzone will be bowled in, with it going from the West stands to the East stands, but not touching. It will be like a millimeter between. It's a structural/permit/building mumbo jumbo thing, that I don't quite remember. Something about if it only comes near, but is not part of, you don't have to tear everything down and start over from scratch. They did this with the West Side Complex they did last year. It is actually a separate "section" and only butts up near, but isn't connected to what was there.

The (south) End Zone Complex has been there for quite awhile. In that phase, they will bowl in from the East stands to the EZC and from the West stands to the EZC. Again, without actually connecting them up. I think they will, also, be adding stands in front of the EZC, with a tunnel.

They may also, eventually, add stands to fill in the N. Endzone, but I'm not sure.

It's common in commercial as well as residential. Around here, if you want to raze and rebuild your house, you're much better off leaving one wall intact and building around it.
