Still galled at the fact a Canadian judge was able to make a DQ call on Ohno. That's absurd.

US Woman ar ein final four for womens persuit. semis and finals tomorrow. FWIW USA had best time in quarterfinals.Mountaineer wrote:36 are locked up.
#35 US men vs. Canada in the team pursuit (speed skating) tomorrow - at least a silver.
#36 hockey game
37 if USA1 can hold on in bobsled.
More?

Yup, we race the Germans in the semi - I think they won the gold in Turin. It's why I didn't list it. A medal here would be a bonus.UNHWildCats wrote: US Woman ar ein final four for womens persuit. semis and finals tomorrow. FWIW USA had best time in quarterfinals.
Also US has 3 guys well able to medal in mens slalom, though none are expected to...but then no one expected anything from Bode this year and hes done well.

at worse they face Poland or Japan for bronze so medaling is a very real possibility.Mountaineer wrote:Yup, we race the Germans in the semi - I think they won the gold in Turin. I've been following it for over a week now. First the Canadians were humiliated with the Own The Podium debacle. Now they're olympic champions because they lead the gold medal count.

I think the official IOC rankings are sorted by gold medals first. This was the reasoning the Ralph used when posting the 2008 summer games totals on AGS.Fresno St. Alum wrote:the only place I know that ranks you by golds is wikipedia. Yahoo, cbs, nbc, espn rank it by total medals. Say 2012 summer China won the most golds with 30 and had a total of 35 medals. Then say the USA had 29 golds with 70 total medals doubling the total, how the fuck does wiki see that as not as good? recockulus

Yup. Most of Europe does as well. However, there's a substantial anti-American sentiment on Wikipedia when it comes to the US leading in anything.BlueHen86 wrote:I think the official IOC rankings are sorted by gold medals first.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word official. Doesn't matter since the country with the most medals or most golds doesn't get anything for doing so.93henfan wrote:There is no "official" olympic ranking.
