You had already made the inference that most of the defenses were bad DF and I am just pointing out that the defenses do look bad because some are not real good BUT all BSC defenses look less than formidable due to the fact that this year some of the best offenses I have ever seen as a conference are making the defensive #'s look bad. I have been watching BSC football for a long time and I don't ever remember seeing this may teams with such good offenses.

That is why I am so interested to see the matchups around the country. It is gonna be some really good football to see. I want to see if the highly ranked D's can be exploited by the highly ranked O's.

Chicken or the egg?

Were the Big Sky offenses good because the defenses were bad? Or were the defenses bad because the offenses were good?

SDSU's defense is way better than MSU.
You have no way of knowing that since they played against entirely different offenses.

Montana and SDSU played one common opponent.
UM 35; CPSLO 23 CPSLO had 317 yards TO
CPSLO 21; SDSU 14 CPSLO had 333 yards TO

Doesn't look like a unique defense to me.
The thing you don't see in that score is that the defense for SDSU only allowed one td in that game, while CP got two off of turnovers for td's.

Exactly. Here is a real look at SDSU's defensive results

Opponent - Points given up by defense
Ga. Southern - 6
Indiana St. - 0
Illinois St. - 10 (1 INT return for TD by ISU)
Cal Poly - 7 (1 INT return for TD and 1 fumble return for TD by CP)
Missouri St. 17
North Dakota St.- 13
UNI - 14
Youngstown St. - 3
Southern Ill. - 27 (1 INT return for TD for SIU)
Minnesota - 9 (1 fumble return for TD for Minn)
Western Ill. - 7

This conversations seems to be the immovable object against the unstoppable force. The 3 Big Sky teams offenses are for real but Ursus is right. The key to all three games will be the the defenses as IMO these teams can score on anyone but can they keep their opponents our of the endzone???

That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801
