Turcotte, a sophomore from Lewiston, underwent surgery on Monday to repair a groin injury. The timetable for his recovery is unclear, said Maine Coach Jack Cosgrove, who on Tuesday still had not spoken to team doctors to discuss the prognosis.
The news comes amid Maine's preparations to face Syracuse of the Big East Conference on Saturday.
"How serious it was, what happens now? That's the great unknown," said Cosgrove.

Ron Turcotte is one of the greatest jockeys of all time and is a native of Maine's neighbor, New Brunswick, Canada. I wouldn't think Turcotte is a very common name. Just curious
