Well, I think it's a pretty big leap from a minor Congresswoman to Stalin, but I defer to you since you're old enough to actually remember Papa Joe.Ivytalk wrote:Will you get off the goddam center stripe and take a position? Eh, I agree that it's disconcerting that she doesn't appear to have a lot of economic know-how and is woefully inexperienced in that regard (that's almost the definition of socialism when you think about it), but I don't mind the brashness and the willingness to voice an opinion and push back against the system. And she's right, she's there for 2 years to do a job and get things done. More politicians should have her focus on getting things done rather than just holding power.
As for ignorant legislators, well, we have many of them anyway. In this case, at least it's young blood. I'm tired of seeing 70 and 80 and even 90 year olds in the top jobs of government. Heck, even the Catholic Church has a mandatory retirement age for most of their leadership. If you're 80 years old and have been in office for half of that time, you should quit. Heck, if you're over 70 years old you should think about quitting anyway. Too many old folks hanging on. With all the perks of having power in Washington it's no wonder, but I'd rather have young firebrands coming in shaking things up, even if they're slightly on the bad side of the ignorance meter. I'm optimistically hoping these youngin's are in it for the short term and we won't be complaining about them hanging around for 40 years.
