You have one first round game and it's the last team in the field. All three seeds on one side... anything short of an all Big Sky semi on the weak side of the bracket would be a let down.kalm wrote:I’ll trade you one incarnate word for a Duequesne and SEMO. Dude, it’s the playoffs. We averaged 45 in the regular season. Nicholls has a good defense and Davis or UNI will tighten things up.Gil Dobie wrote:EWU will be averaging 50-60 points going into the Semifinal game, otherwise I over estimated how good you are.kalm wrote:

Sweet, Nicholls gave up 21 to Incarnate Word, tell me EWU wouldn't double or triple that score against Nicholls.kalm wrote:Dude, it’s the playoffs. We averaged 45 in the regular season. Nicholls has a good defense and Davis or UNI will tighten things up.Gil Dobie wrote:

Eastern should double that up with the offense they have especially with how they are playing now, but it is the playoffs, every team is going to bring their A game. Cant wait till Saturday to watch the first round.

Even the Semi's with JMU winning 51-16 vs SDSU and NDSU winning 55-13 vs Sam Houston.89Hen wrote:There are always blowouts in the playoffs. Last year in the first round...Wildcat Ryan wrote:every team is going to bring their A game.

Usually, but those are usually games featuring Power FCS conf teams vs not power FCS teams. Unless your San Diego than it's the other way around.
I honestly think Towson is the most likely team to blow out their opponent in Rnd. 1

It didn't hurt that the Southland rep was Committee Chair.Gil Dobie wrote:I would pick Furman to win, but the committee probably took UIW because they were 6-2 vs FCS, beating 4 teams with winning records and losing to 2 teams with winning records, and yes Furman probably would have won those games. Furman was 6-3 vs FCS. Committee doesn't surprise me, just makes me look at why.89Hen wrote: Correct, but did you have UIW getting in the field with an at-large? The Selection Show guy certainly asked about Furman. I'm guessing if we did a poll over Furman v UIW before the show, FU would have had more votes.

I read somewhere that their contract with ISU has an out clause if they are in the FCS playoffs.pantherclaw wrote:So, question. What happens if incarnate word wins on Saturday? They already have a dec 1 date with Iowa state.

Bethune Cookman spoiled it for A&T and their chance to be in the FCS playoffs.Gil Dobie wrote:Don't know if it was a typo, but NCAT coulf finish 9-2 and 2nd in the MEAC if FAMU wins.kalm wrote:
6 win teams like Furman and ICW would fall behind 6 win UNI and WIU. Furman is closer thanks to a solid SOS. I think ICW is left out for an at-large. Montana would be behind UND and Nicholls based on H2H and Nicholls win against KU. Maybe ISUb too. SEMO shouldn’t but could slide in ahead at 8-3. Then there’s 89’s favorite...a 9-3 NCAT. That leaves a 7-4 Montana firmly on the bubble.

They don’t play anybody, that’s true - but if you watch them play the seed becomes at least a little more understandable.

I think they deserve a seed but probably a 6-8. As mentioned before the 3 decent teams they played held them to 20, 24, and 24 points. Two of those three don't have very good defenses either.CID1990 wrote:That has nothing to do with how good/bad they are.89Hen wrote: Because they haven't beaten anyone besides JaxSt.

Also, when you play weak competition, you are bound to look more formidable. I think they'd continue to be a coin flip win against JSU and Samford.

Those low point totals are typical for triple option teams. In fact, in those games they had long, sustained drives.
I'm not saying they are seeded too low or high, I'm saying I think the fact that they are seeded is justified.
