Yes let me know when Warren gets up in front of a bunch of frothing at the mouth cultists and pats a politician on the back for physically assaulting a reporter.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I’m still waiting for a ruling on “rhetoric causes violence” because nearly everybody here seems to have switched opinions on the matter

Or at least the desire to talk about it, anyway

It's a very difficult cause and effect proposition to infer. Virtually impossible to conduct a controlled experiment to address the question.

It's similar to trying to determine whether or not violent movies or rap music cause violence.

What we can say, though, is that Trump does routinely promote violence. That's just an observation.

This guy will go away for a couple decades and that’s exactly what he deserves. Anybody who can be goaded into sending bombs to multiple people is morally and ethically ineligible to ever walk the street with you, or me. Sociopath or not, treatment or not

We actually used to involuntarily commit people for all kinds of things, Treep

But that was inhumane. Want to take three guesses why we don’t throw all the schizos who refuse to take their meds into Camp Butner (a famous asylum in NC when I was growing up)? Want to guess who said involuntary committal for “mental issues” was inhumane?

Once again the stuff that comes out of you sure sounds wonderful but as usual there’s no critical thought behind it. Unless you are really are suggesting that we go back to the days of preemptively committing people who “act crazy”

Until you’re ready to COMPEL mental health treatment (which is locking them away forever for many of them) and then define what level of “crazy talk” gets you locked away.... you might want to back off considering nuts who do crazy things as victims and view them as the permanent menaces they are

Trump isn't responsible for this guy any more than Black lives matter is responsible for the Dallas police killings .

Although it should be pointed out that Trump at doesn't tell his supporters that the media will kill them for being white and start "what do we want? Dead journalists!" chants at his rallies.

:geek:
Yes

But prior to actively trying to kill people, how different were they in terms of whether they should be locked away?

Cat lady talking to pigeons is just cat lady talking to pigeons until she poisons her neighbors with strychnine. Then they become “warning signs” that we all missed

I think it’s a worthy debate (senses a trap :suspicious: )

Short answer if based strictly on how you phrased it: no.

At least not all the time.

“Can” it? Yes.

Primate groups have varying degrees of social hierarchy. Certain groups are more prone to following and desire authority and leadership.

But humans (and I’m guessing other species) have also shown the ability to rise above.

The underlying libertarian argument is potentially very interesting.

The libertarian argument is that people saying incendiary things should be kept separate from the actions people take, ostensibly because of those incendiary statements. People can say what they want

And that we should come down with both feet on the tops of the heads of those who act on incendiary rhetoric. Im quite UN-libertarian in that I do believe in losing the keys after locking some people up - you’ve lost your right to the libertarian utopia when your freedoms whack other people

My only beef right now is that both sides are doing it, both sides are denying they are doing it (while claiming the other is), and everybody is ignoring the hypocrisy

The only thing I'd add is the fight to prove which side is worse or does it more. It's fun to troll about and argue over, like whether Mercer is better or ETSU, but it seems rather pointless.

Agreed with the first part, but not the lasts sentence. The MSM is the one trying to claim there’s some kind of difference between the two....minimizing ricin and riots as opposed to fake bombs. The MSM are the ones insisting Trump (or at least his rhetoric) is behind these bombs, and insisting that he must “apologize” or denounce it, while making no such connection between clinton’s, Holder’s, Waters’ or Obama’s violent rhetoric and the crazy actions of the left.
