Cashiers at Piggly Wiggly or Harris Teeter aren't protesting or walking off the job b/c they want to be paid more. There's a difference.dbackjon wrote:BDKJMU wrote:

Anecdotal I know, however, when I worked at a grocery store, the people there that made it a career were in the office, butcher shop (making more than minimum wage) or were retirees. My cousin stocked shelves, but he worked in distro for corporate. Still does. I have a friend that started out as a bag boy in high school and now is an Operator (runs the entire store). He's also black w/o a college degree making $75k.
Want a livable wage? Don't work fast food...unless you own the franchise.

Agreed. The dead horse is where are these displaced workers going to be employed? There's several generations that have figured out America will provide you with the best low income standard of living in the world while working service sector jobs. Sure they bitch and feel entitled to more just like the wealthy bitch about higher taxes and over-regulation.Ibanez wrote:Cashiers at Piggly Wiggly or Harris Teeter aren't protesting or walking off the job b/c they want to be paid more. As Cleets has pointed out many times, fair or not, take away the crumbs and remedial jobs from the working poor and out come the pitchforks.
Re: Political memes, Posters, Funny Pics, Etc.
I don't necessarily disagree. But I have little to no sympathy for people that failed to take advantage of public education and then want the public at large to pay more to support their bad decision.kalm wrote:Agreed. Ultra wealthy like Warren Buffet and Gates have played the imagined world Monopoly game
all the way to it's logical dystopian end...
therefore:
They fully support the trickling out of free money and free food stamps
Gates even said (a long time ago) that the broadband infrastructure should be handled like we handle water
He implied that it would go a long way towards "peace"
When a large enough segment or percentage of a given society really have nothing to lose
It's bad for everybody
And I'm not talking metaphorically
I'm talking about physical danger type of bad
all the way to it's logical dystopian end...

It's easy: go to school. Study. Pass tests. Repeat each year.Ivytalk wrote:Run that by me again. The part about "taking advantage of public education."Ibanez wrote:

With the quality of public school education in the toilet, "repeat each year" has a different meaning!Ibanez wrote:It's easy: go to school. Study. Pass tests. Repeat each year.Ivytalk wrote: Run that by me again. The part about "taking advantage of public education."
