5 million years for the formation of the Grand Canyon is actually very fast by geological standards

There is ZERO real evidence that it happened because of a fake flood. No wonder Trump won - too many **** idiots reject science.

This is a perfect example of my point about science rejecting God.

No, Science is NOT rejecting God. You are trying to tailor YOUR view of God to science. YOU are the problem, not God, not science. Most normal churches (Catholic, Methodists, etc) recognize that an old earth, evolution, etc can coexist with God.

The problem is with Fundamentalists trying to take a book, which is copied from millenia of story-telling, and try to make it into a history/science book.

It is funny, the so-called followers of Christ, who used parables to illustrate points, insist that Jesus invented this method of story-telling out of thin air (newsflash, Jewish Jesus was simply following tradition).

None of the stories in Genesis, etc are meant to be taken literally.

You really had to go out of your way to hurt someone with Jarts. Even the helmet craze isn't safe enough for Jarts I guess.

That fundamentalism should be "excluded" from Logic and reason

Back when thinning the herd was the norm. If you weren't fast enough to get out of the way of an incoming jart, then you didn't deserve to live/procreate anyways...

Closed minded..?
Closed minded means NOT accepting new information and evidence to the contrary of ones own beliefs
Which is quite literally a requirement in order to be a fundamentalist

There isn't a single legitimate scientists I'm aware of
that thinks the planet earth is less than a few billion years old
Heck regular carbon dating proves we've got living trees older than 5000 years
and we've unearthed so many Woolly Mammoths that are in excess of 15,000 years old
So many they've stopped counting them

It's also a bit of a swing and a miss
when a Fundamentalist claims its "everybody else" that is closed minded

Many are out there, the others just do not recognize them, they say it is not science. None of the atheistic ones even look at the findings long enough to disprove it.

and you've known me long enough to know what I'm all about...
If anyone could defend the Earth being 6,000 years old then I'm all ears

If you're going to defend a fundamentalists on a scientific debate about geological formations
You'll need more than what you're coming at me with here... Science isn't really their thing

Only because it's the best of all possible debate topics...

It's important to pretty much everybody regardless of their position
and the highly Religious desperately want to be in the important conversations
They want so badly to be taken seriously

They'll argue until they fall back on "faith alone" which is the last bastion
but frequently it takes a long time and many good rounds of banter before they get to the end

That's why I rarely do religious debates (unless I'm ridiculing "evidence based" intelligent design)

enjoyment in that kind of debate must stimulate one of two parts of the brain... the part that likes killing ants with magnifying glasses or the part that allows us to willingly inject fat from our asses into our lips

if the debate is always going to reach the same inevitable endpoint then i dont bother - even if I know Im right
