I've been saying for quite some time now that if the Republicans were smart they would nominate Paul as he provides a clear conservative alternative to Obama. But Romney is going to get the big money backing in this and will win the nomination. This will not sit well with the anti-mormon christians and the true conservatives who recognize Romney for what he is...a Robama. Republicans are notoriously good at unification so we will see, but a long protracted primary coupled with low voter turn out for the above reasons does not bode well. The more time they have to get the primary settled and get behind Mitt, the better.BDKJMU wrote:Well, I see you have nothing concrete to refute my assertion that a fractured Repub field doesn't help Obama and doom the Republicans come Nov.kalm wrote:

No matter who wins the nomination, Obama still has to mold this three year pile of shit he's created into something the US voters want for four more years....I don't think a Republican candidate has to even say a word to pull 30% of the popular vote come November no matter who it is.

I think most Republicans certainly don't see BHO as a viable alternative given his lack of performance so far.

Paul is like an even whackier Goldwater. Sure, he's "pure" from an idealogy standpoint, but that just ends up being a rout come general election time. I don't see the GOP purposely putting up a candidate that would likely lose every battleground state.kalm wrote:I've been saying for quite some time now that if the Republicans were smart they would nominate Paul as he provides a clear conservative alternative to Obama. What exactly did I do again? I've been an advocate for fiscal responsibility since I learned how to balance a checkbook, and both the Dems and Repubs should do the same. Obama got Bin Laden, but that's hardly a platform come November....D1B wrote:You fucks ruined the nation before Obama was elected. He's cleaning up your mess and doing a great job. The housing market is a giant shit storm that's going to take a loong time to clean up. And it's not as though McCain could have just waved a wand and made it go away.
