$1200 checks probably help.JohnStOnge wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 4:54 pm I've said before that I honestly interpret polls whether they indicate what I wish is true or they indicate what I wish were not true. Now we have Trump doing better than he's done since February 2017 with respect to his job approval/disapproval. He's only down by 2 right now in the Real Clear Politics average of polls.
Particularly disturbing is that he is UP 2 in the poll, the ABC News/Washington Post poll, that I consider to be the Gold Standard.
I am just shaking my head. There is no question that there is an association between his job approval situation getting better and this COVID-19 episode. Yet it is blatantly obvious that he very publicly mishandled the response. Very obviously under estimated the threat. Downplayed it. Started off saying it was under control when it is now obvious that it was not. Only 15 cases and soon it'll be close to zero. Now we have the highest reported case total in the world.
Yet his approval rating goes up.

There is no such thing as a Republican that is not also a Socialist...
Libertarians are not Socialist but Republicans are absolutely socialist if we base it on behavior and not rhetoric

Socialism is state ownership of the means of production.

The political and journalistic opprobrium being heaped on Amash and Massie in connection with the bailout bill suggests that the small-l libertarian movement in this country is vanishingly small. If there’s a crisis, guvmint will ride to the “rescue,” notwithstanding regulatory screwups like the FDA has proved to be.

Re: Coronavirus
This whole thing really highlights how screwed up our healthcare system is.
They divided Ohio into 8 hospital regions with a Coronavirus hospital in each.
If the Coronavirus hospital in your region is outside your insurance's network... you're royally fucked. Bankruptcy or chance it.

When my wife broke her ankle in Florida, there were plenty of places in network. We stayed in 2 parts of Florida that year and no problem with in-network care.CAA Flagship wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 4:26 pmSkjellyfetti wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 4:21 pm This whole thing really highlights how screwed up our healthcare system is.

Hope you have good insurance with plenty of in network options.
Or just say "fuck it" and not tough it out or wait to get back home or risk a boatload of medical debt.

Don't be a drama queen. I bet you when its all said and done, people won't be charged for out of network, if the hospital they get sent to is out of network, due to the govt dictating the regions.Skjellyfetti wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 4:21 pm This whole thing really highlights how screwed up our healthcare system is.

After all, we could have a single payer system like Italy, or Spain. How's that working out for them?State officials decided to divide Ohio into eight geographic regions. They are requiring within each region the facilities -- which usually compete against each other -- work together in deciding which medical centers will be caring for coronavirus patients and which ones will care for other needs such as labor and delivery or radiology....
...Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said that so far, insurance companies have been accommodating to requests made by the state during the pandemic. The state has the ability to pursue health insurance companies in court if they are uncooperative, he said.
