Free people are not equal; Equal people are not free

Post by LeadBolt »

From a FB post a friend of mine put up. I'm not sure of the origin. Discuss.
Conundrum
Free people are not equal. Equal people are not free.
"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again."
The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing.
Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the
United States of America :
1. America is capitalist and greedy -
yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized -
yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their
representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government -
yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they
have things that people in other countries
only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other
countries only dream about - yet they want
America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty
much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.
Makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot
about the direction of our current government
and cultural environment :
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims
by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are
encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the
actions of a few lunatics.
Funny how that works.
And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social
Security is going to run out of money. But we
never hear about welfare or food stamps running
out of money? What's interesting is the first
group "worked for" their money, but the second
didn't.
Think about it.....and Last but not least :
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans,
no pay raises for our military and cutting our army
but we are not stopping the payments or benefits
to illegal aliens.
Am I the only one missing something?

So much Fail...
Its so loaded with ridiculous presumptions
Just because you've been duped into buying into this drivel
Please don't assume everybody here is that stupid

Social security running out of money...
but we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money (What..???)
Almost yearly we hear about the funding for social programs not being renewed
Almost every state in the union battles over social program renewal funds

You'd have to be an absolute neanderthal troglodyte to not notice this ongoing battle

we're cutting Military spending but continuing to fund illegal aliens
Please give ONE example where we have programs designed for illegals
and we knowingly fund illegals - this is the Right wing calling card
but nobody can seem to explain it in detail - its always vague "funding aliens" claims

Then there's the entire front loaded section about who's "running the government"
Which we are not so cleverly made to assume it's the Representatives of the poor running everything
Really..?

The list of senators and Congressmen of this country reads like a whos-who of the rich and famous
This idea we waste all this money on the poor is ridiculous
we spend exactly what it takes to keep the poor disenfranchised, addled and out of the street...

We've got it down to a science
We have 50 million poor and nobody wants them - all at once - storming the streets
That is the "price" we must pay... we have programs with perfectly dolled out amounts
lulling and appeasing the masses

Anybody who doesn't get this - is being fed a line and swallowing it whole
Just walk the street of Oakland  That money is well spent my friends

:coffee:

And nobody illegally hires more illegals than our giant billion dollar companies
Illegals are rolled right into the system - by American corporations - not crazy socialist liberals

:ohno:

The title statement sure isn't. "Free people are not equal; Equal people are not free."

Absolutely true. The essence of why the radical egalitarianism that drives progressivism is inconsistent with the thirst for liberty.

Well then, give me your argument with respect to how you can have free people and equal people at the same time. I'm talking about equality in the sense that progressives/liberals conceive it.

1) America isn't a country. 2) The U.S. is a mixed economy.

2. Half of the population is subsidized -

Somewhat true, but have you heard all of the whining from white heterosexual males lately? They are a persecuted lot for sure!

3. They think they are victims - yet their
representatives run the government.

They are not the constituency of elected officials.

4. Their representatives run the government -
yet the poor keep getting poorer.

The poor are doing alright. The middle class is getting poorer.

5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they
have things that people in other countries
only dream about.

True dat.

6. They have things that people in other
countries only dream about - yet they want
America to be more like those other countries.

Educated liberal intellectuals (yeah those evil bastards) are swedephiles. American  poor are more likely to locate Bristol, Talladega, or Martinsville on a map than Stockholm.

Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty
much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.
Makes you wonder who is doing the math.

The same people who think America is a country?

These three, short sentences tell you a lot

and cultural environment :
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims
by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are

Ok. But what about muslim gun owners?

And here's another one worth considering...

Probably because Social Security is running out of money. Perhaps we should have the illegals fight our wars. Problem solver!

Am I the only one missing something?

Free and equal are relative terms. We have it now in many respects.

How on EARTH does that relate to "free" and "equal" being relative terms?

On the issue of cutting someone else's heart out:

Cutting someone else's heart out is a positive attack on someone else.

Refusing to bake a cake for someone else's wedding is not. You're just sitting there minding your own business and someone comes to you and asks you to bake a cake for them. You say "no." That's not attacking someone else.

This whole thing we have in this culture where we think government should be forcing people to interact with other people is absurd. It's wrong. People should be free to interact with or not interact with others as they wish.

And it's incredible to me that there are people who disagree with that proposition. To me, the fact that anybody disagrees with that proposition is an illustration of the fact that we have a large number of people who have completely lost contact with the idea of what this country is supposed to be about (i.e., Liberty).

Then I went back to the top and discovered that it was some goofy Facebook clickbait

I have lots of FB friends who post that stuff and I literally scroll through it as fast as I can... if those friends didn't gave hit wives or girlfriends I would have just unfriended them by now

I've got two people on ignore right now. Don't want to unfriend them completely, but they waste my time. Considering a Sister in Law as a 3rd as well.

As much as I like the Declaration of Independence, "all men are created equal" is obviously not a truth. In fact it's pretty much self evident that the idea that all men (or all human beings) are innately equal is NOT true.
