JohnStOnge wrote:I don't think the problem is him not being politically correct. I'd say he was not being politically correct when he said that illegal aliens are a crime problem. That's something that offends the "politically correct" but it's a legitimate point of debate.

My problem with trump is that he is constantly engaging in ad hominem attacks on people who disagree with him. Constantly responding with personal attacks instead or actual substantive rebuttal.

Like I didn't see the debate but my wife told me about a part where Chris Wallace asked him what evidence he had that the Mexican government is sending problem people over the border. She said he never answered the question. Just started on a rant about how stupid people in Washington are.

It wasn't the "blood coming out" comment that to me showed typical Trump behavior, instead, it's when he said this:
I don't have a lot of respect for Meghan Kelly. She's a lightweight. And, you know, she came out there reading her little script and trying to, uh, you know be tough and be sharp and, uh, when you meet her you realize she's not very tough and she's not very sharp. She's zippo.
You listen to him and he rarely if ever has any substantive rebuttal to anything. He's almost all ad hominem attack. Just low ball personal attacks on people who challenge or disagree with him.

I've dealt with people who use that approach and it's pretty damned vacant. Unfortunately there are many people who are taken in by it. Like my wife said when he just went on a rant about how stupid people in Washington are instead of answering the question about evidence for what he said a bunch of people cheered.
You ever notice that ALPACAJIZZ1 is never around when Trump is doing that? :coffee:

There's a whole bunch of truth to this. :)
No there isn't. That's the casting of the Republican party by the left. But it's not the truth. Don't get me wrong. The Republican Party is a long way from perfect. But the bottom line is that it is more oriented towards minimal government than the Democratic Party is.

The difference on average is that Republicans tend to be more personally engaged in helping others, being charitable, etc., while Democrats tend to support government forcibly taking from some and distributing it to others.

What I would say is that the Democratic Party holds sway because it's managed to establish an entitlement mentality. People think they have a right to force others to take care of them. They think they have a right to the fruits of others' labors. They think they have a right to be paid more for what they do than it is worth. So on and so forth.

What you wrote is a reflection of the success the Democrats have had in convincing people who can't or won't succeed that their problems are due to the success of someone else. And it's not.

Dawg, you John is a little myopic in his outlook but he isn't completely wrong. I could change your original statement to something like the following and it would be just as accurate as yours ...

The DP only exists because people are short-sighted enough to believe that you can take from the high achievers so that outcomes are fair and equal and that there will be no harmful side effects. That the high achievers won't back off and work less hard, that there won't be a reduction in technological and scientific achievements and that in the end we'll all have it just as good or better than if we hadn't redistributed income.

And this doesn't even touch on the reality that the more you ask the government to do the worse it does at everything.

Socialism failed in the USSR and it's failing in Greece and Illinois. The government can't solve all of our problems and it doesn't have access to infinite resources. We should give people opportunities to succeed but it's up to them to work hard and make something of those opportunities. I also have no problem with people accumulating wealth and passing it on to their children. Hard work should pay off.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.
