And yet we cannot speak about Islam like adults because we might hurt somebody's feelings
Really..? This is where I depart from the Liberal mindset
You should probably try approaching it from a rational standpoint versus an ideological one.![]()
Islam is troubling. We should keep an eye on those guys.
Defense of irrational jingoistic backlash is troubling too. Should probably keep an eye on them as well.
(Maybe not as discerning of an eye but an eye none the less)
calling islam troubling is like calling David Allan Coe a tad country
all of the security changes we have made (agree with them or not - I dont) havent been because of what might be done in the name of islam - we have DHS because of what has already happened
given our political class' tendency - nay - ingrained trait of bowing to public demands for all security, all the time is prima facie evidence that islam IS a threat. some people see it as a physical threat
i see it as a threat to our civil liberties - ones we will give up in the name of not allowing islamic wild animals to crash airliners into buildings- and that means they have forced us to give up principles that survived two world wars in the last century - in that respect it is a bigger threat than Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany could only have dreamed of
and they arent dumb- quite the opposite - they knew precisely the effect their piecemeal attacks would have on us, and they accordingly have played us like a fiddle
so again I ask - what threat exactly has been embellished? Do you enjoy having to take off your shoes at the airport while clutching your beltless pants so they dont fall around your ankles?
