Most of this is sideshow, and in Trump's case, a larger sideshow. Lots of candidates, but the only real ones are Bush, Rubio, Walker and Paul, and maybe in that order. One of those is the nominee and quite likely the VP nominee is in that small group as well.

Speaking with The Advocate that year, Trump said he’d fund his universal health care plan with an increase in corporate taxes.

“I would put forward a comprehensive health care program and fund it with an increase in corporate taxes,” Trump said.

You have to love the GOP. Trump takes a significant early lead & the establishment Republicans do anything they can to tear him down. It's early but I can't say I'm anything but disappointed in my choices. You have to figure someone outside of Congress would be the favorite but Bush looks to be a pale comparison of the 1st 2 Bushes and that's not saying much.

Walker may be the best bet right now.

“The RNC has not been supportive. They were always supportive when I was a contributor. I was their fair-haired boy,” he told The Hill in an interview published Thursday morning. “The RNC has been, I think, very foolish.”

Trump has led several recent national polls among Republican voters, though a recent Quinnipiac University survey this week showed him with severely negative approval ratings in the swing states of Colorado, Iowa and Virginia.

The thinking, according to a Republican involved in the conversations, was that the lesser-funded prospects who have been eclipsed by Mr. Trump would follow suit, and the TV networks airing the debates would be forced to bar Mr. Trump in order to have a full complement of candidates.
