So pot should or should not be treated/viewed as alcohol is?

You keep citing a bunch of "no shit" type articles so again, lost what your message is I guess...it's hard to concentrate while I'm trying to wipe all this hypocrisy off my shoes from the mess you've made here.

Carry a scoop and a bag and clean up after yourself a bit here would ya? A little common courtesy would go a long way.

Carly Fiorina Reaffirms Her Opposition To Pot Legalization...

Carly Fiorina: Marijuana legalization 'is a very bad idea'

Republican presidential candidate, Carly Fiorina.

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina came to Colorado, the first state to legalize marijuana, and said legalization was a bad idea."While I do in general support states rights, and the voters of Colorado have made a decision," Fiorina told reporters after her speech at the Western Conservative Summit, "I would also very quickly add that I think the legalization of marijuana is a very bad idea. I think it's misleading to young people in particular when we tell them smoking pot is like drinking a beer. It is not."
Marijuana was legalized in Colorado first for medical use in 2000 and then recreational use in 2012. Both policies were approved by the voters in ballot initiatives. Since then Washington state, Oregon and Alaska have followed suit. Marijuana is legal for medicinal use in seventeen other states. The former Hewlett-Packard CEO is not only a staunch opponent to recreational drug use, but she also cautioned against using the drug for medical purposes. A cancer survivor herself, she spoke of how her doctor warned her against mixing cannabis with her cancer treatment."When I was battling cancer my doctor asked me if I was interested in medicinal marijuana, I said I was not, and he said 'good' because we don't understand the marijuana of today," Fiorina said. "It is a chemically complex compound and we don't understand how it interacts with other medicines, we don't understand how it interacts with other things you're doing in your life. "The GOP hopeful explained her stance that since marijuana has powerful chemical properties, it should be regulated as such and controlled like medicine. She added that treating drugs in a similar sense, as alcohol would be dangerous.
For Fiorina, the issue is personal though. Her stepdaughter, Lori, died in 2009 at the age of 35, due to her long struggle with drug addiction. The presidential candidate sad that her passing makes drug legalization an issue that "lands very personally" to her and that "we need to tell people the truth that marijuana is not like having a beer with your buddies."

Comatose teen given THC oil, miraculously regains breathing...

Exclusive: Nelson teen 'breathing on his own' after controversial cannabis treatment

17:19 Fri, 26 Jun 2015

A Nelson teenager who was granted special dispensation to use medical cannabis has been taken off life support and is now breathing on his own.
He breathes all by himself now with no help, Alex Renton's mother Rose Renton says today."His heart is strong and his lungs are strong. Its a big development for Alex, who has been lying in Wellington Hospital in an induced coma for two months, in status epilepticus, a kind of prolonged seizure. For nine days, Alex has been receiving cannabis oil treatment Elixinol, brought in from the United States with special government approval.
Alexs family has asked doctors to increase the doses of cannabis oil. He will be now given the oil four times a day. They have also asked the hospital to gently reduce Alexs anti-epileptic drugs. Alex could be woken very slowly if the seizures stop, says Ms Renton. His sedation level is still high.
Brain scans have shown Alex is still experiencing seizures. He is able to open his eyes but cannot communicate.
I take each day as it comes, and trust Alex knows what he needs, says Ms Renton. Today he is stronger, as the room is quiet. There is no monitoring and beeping, less medication and more rest. Alexs six siblings will be spending the weekend with him at Wellington Hospital.
Mrs. Renton noted when Alexs' breathing tube was removed, he was able to ask the nurses for three bags of barbecue Lays and an extra large all-meat pizza.

There goes another state...slipping into total anarchy. When will the madness end??? :ohno:
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Oregon ended marijuana prohibition at midnight Wednesday, joining Colorado, Washington state, Alaska and the District of Columbia in legalizing recreational use of the drug.

The new law means Oregon likely will reap benefits that appear to have followed legalization elsewhere: Reduced crime, from a legal industry supplanting a black market; higher tax revenue, once weed is legal to sell; and police forces and courts unburdened by droves of misdemeanor pot offenders.

I don't understand what you're trying to show. By both graphs, marijuana related crimes only accounted for just over 2% of the increase in crimes from 2013 to 2014. Where are the other 98% of the crimes? These graphs would seem to show that marijuana-related crimes were pretty small in the big picture of overall crime.

Fresno Bee July 6,2015
Editorial: Marijuana growers are wrecking California

Environment is paying price of inaction by Legislature

Illegal growers are draining streams, killing fish at escalating rates. Bills in Assembly, Senate would create regulatory framework

BY THE BEE EDITORIAL BOARD

The cost of inaction couldn’t be more clear. Acres of ancient trees are disappearing and illegal marijuana farms are popping up in their place. Streams and rivers are being sucked dry, diverted sometimes miles away through plastic pipes into tanks. Several species of fish, along with a rare breed of wild rodent, are on the verge of extinction.
All of this is happening now, all across California, but particularly in the North Coast and in our national parks in the San Joaquin Valley. All of this environmental destruction is occurring to grow marijuana and meet consumer demand. While there’s plenty of blame to go around for how things have turned out in the nearly 20 years since California legalized medical marijuana, much of it must land at the feet of consumers, and of lawmakers. Apathetic consumers seem unaffected by the environmental damage that weed causes. We buy fair-trade coffee and free-range chickens. Where’s the outrage about the environmental impact of marijuana?
Through the inaction of lawmakers, pot remains unregulated and spreads like weeds. Add to this the drought and speculation that California will soon join Washington and Oregon in making pot legal for recreational use, and our state has the makings of an ecological disaster on its hands.
This was the sobering message that came through July 1 at a hearing of the state Senate’s Joint Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture. Official after official testified about the negative effects that illegal pot farming has had on the environment and in unfairly exacerbating the drought.Charlton Bonham, director of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, talked about his “existential crisis” while watching species of salmon dwindle to dangerously low numbers.
Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman spoke of how, at a recent bust near Island Mountain, illegal growers had depleted the mighty Eel River to the point that it was full of moss. He estimated the farmers needed about 500,000 precious gallons of water a day to support the nearly 87,000 plants they found.Thousands of growers are doing the same despicable things to the environment all over California. These aren’t the “old hippies” who have been growing pot for years in California, but the “rich white people growers,” as Allman calls them, who are moving here in droves, hoping to claim a stake in our unregulated market before demand really ramps up for legal recreational drugs.

Hah hah!

wait... that needs more emphasis

HAH HAH

"rich white people growers"

Like I said, if they think those terrible rich white people are bad, just wait until RJR, Lorillard and the rest of big tobacco get in on the action

The legalize crowd will be wishing it was illegal again instead of overregulated by the government and exploited by those companies that already have the infrastructure to mass produce it

We'll make libertarian conservatives out of those hippies yet
