Obama "******" on WTF

A pretty good review of Mark Maron's interview with the Big O. WTF is indeed one of the best podcasts out there and Maron is a great interviewer but he swore off politics a long time ago, so I don't really blame him for not digging into Obama's mind like he normally would a guest.

The interview is a great example of Obama's aloofness. Is the use of the word "nigger" beneath the office of the President?

But even casually dropping the N-word and addressing a topic that is at the forefront of our American culture, albeit one that needs to be addressed—

“Racism, we are not cured of it. And it’s not just a matter of it not being polite to say n----- in public… That’s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It’s not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don’t, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior.”

—was not in the vein of the WTF podcast’s usual flow, and sounded more like a potential sound bite than intimate interaction.

The failure of Congress to act was a recurring theme throughout the show, as were conversationally injected bullet points about the successes of his administration—health care, jobs, the economy, ending wars, and asking, and answering himself, “Are we better off now that we were four years ago? The answer is unequivocally yes.”

But while Obama spoke conversationally, it was hardly a conversation. Maron was all but silent, interjecting only a few times, as Obama spoke at length.

I don't see the big deal. He's talking about racism. In the context he used it in, it was appropriate.

Not really, I was just showing that Democrats are ALWAYS racist, especially politicians, the right wingers believe in equality, compassion and individual freedom.

Well I don't know if the office of the Presidency is what it used to be but

what Obama said was undignified -

first of all, he took advantage of an unwritten racially divisive rule - he used an incendiary word that highlighted his blackness - because only a black man can say it in public and not be questioned on how he said it

It was little different than a President saying that he can sympathize with a homicide victim becuas they have the same skin color (and that is precisely what he said - the words were different).

Clitz called it the Pity Card but I disagree - it is just a *nuanced* version of the race card and Presidents should not use it in any context because among many other things it is undignified
