There is a difference between an entitlement and a sense of entitlement.
Once you realized you stepped on your dick did you try to shift the discussion.
"wealthy entitlement" - your words not mine. The insinuation (wrong) on your part that the douchebag wanted something for free at other people's expense. Rich dude never said he wanted to be given anything.
If you would have simply said the asshole had a sense of entitlement. You wouldn't have been wrong.

Learn from this lesson, Grasshopper. I won't always be there to help.

:kisswink:
Again, an exercise in futility.

Kalm NEVER acknowledges when he loses a debate. He merely shifts, then creates an irrelevant issue in an attempt to mock and draw support from the Board trolls.

As a matter of fact, I just hoisted the white flag a few days ago with Gannonfan. It's what should happen when you face insurmountable logic and are adult and man enough to admit when you're wrong.

It's not as bad a feeling as you might think. Hopefully you get there some day.

I'm rootin' for us buddy! :thumb:

Romney was right. We've reached a point where a critical mass of the population is a bunch of parasites. Only he might've been low on the percentage. It's now hopeless because there's no way the parasites are going to vote in a way that will cut off the blood they're sucking.

So you read "wealthy entitlement" to mean something along the lines of SS.

Why do you think I immediately responded with a wise crack about SS?

I knew you mistook the phrase from the start. :dunce:

And we've been waltzing ever since. Whew!!!!

So now that's cleared up, we agree that 1) the wealthy CAN feel a sense of entitlement, the guy was a douchebag, water as strictly a commodity like pork bellies, ain't that simple, and that the word "entitlement" has multiple meanings and doesn't always imply just something you pay for.

I'm glad we worked that one out. :thumb:

Those weren't the first two hits I got but I did see them both. The second refers to research that we discussed before and that I think is very questionable. We can get into that again if you wish but, as I said, we had a whole thread on it.

The first is nonsense. The "rich," however that is reasonably defined, clearly contribute more to government in taxes than they receive from it in direct benefits and it's not close.

One Statement in the subject article is:
Tax Avoidance: $2,200 Billion That’s $2.2 trillion in tax expenditures, tax underpayments, tax havens, and corporate nonpayment. It is estimated that two-thirds of tax breaks accrue to the top quintile of taxpayers. - See more at: http://inequality.org/era-wealthy-entit ... jX3qv.dpuf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So it's acting as though people taking advantage of lawful tax deductions, etc., so that they don't pay even more than they pay now is government "giving" them something. That's a bunch of crap.

As of the latest year for which I could find CBO estimates (2011) that top quintile accounted for 69 percent of all Federal taxes paid. So don't give me crap about them getting off easy or them getting more from the government in direct benefits than they put into it.

That crap about how the government "gave" you $1000 dollars because it COULD theoretically have taken $11,000 from you instead of taking $10,000 from you is a bunch of exactly that: Crap.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

There was nothing wrong with the phrase and the sources have nothing to do with the validity of it. It was just to provide you with another example of you're misunderstanding.

And reread? I'm the one that's been quoting from the first page. It's all right there in front of you brother. Conks see the word entitlement and spend the next hour pogo sticking around on their hard-on over the evils of the social safety net without considering their are other meanings to the word. It's easy. Off the top of my head....all anyone has to do is just mention: Tiabbi, Greenwald, Rolling Stone, wealth inequality, your horrible sources, campaign finance reform (in general), Citizens United (specifically), entitlements, Ronald Zeus Reagan, "progressivism", single-payer plus a few others I can't remember at the moment, and its like a red cape in from of a bull.
