Jeb Bush makes it official

Post by dbackjon »

Look for the NYT anti-other GOP candidate stories to intensify

"That is a record I am proud to claim. That is a record I would like to bring to Washington," a message from him said on the site. "And that's why I am running for President. I'm Jeb Bush, and I want your vote."

I would expect him to do as many rallies in Spanish as possible, tout his Hispanic ties including, obviously, his wife and children. We are decidely in the era of identity politics and he can certainly reach more of those voters than Romney could. If Rubio runs as his VP on the ticket you'll know they are going all out for that demographic.

Bush and Rubio can't be on the same ticket (Constitution prohibits running mates from same state)

Wern't no prob for G.W. Bush and Dickie, they just flew him to Wyoming and he re-applied for Wyoming residency.

They could fly Rubio to Cuba and do the same thing..

There's no such Constitutional mandate that prevents two candidates from the same state running on the same ticket. There can certainly be a Bush/Rubio ticket if they want. The only stipulation is that electors (not voters) can't cast their electoral ballots for two people from the same state of the electors. This would mean that Florida electors (assuming they are Floridians, that could make it interesting if they weren't), if the GOP won Florida, would not be able to cast their ballots for both Bush and Rubio. If Bush would go on to win the election, the person the Democrats pick as the VP could be an interesting scenario.

LOL - Cheney had a claim to your home state (which thrills you, I know). Bush/Rubio - would be hard to find away around that.

Dear God, we're going to have a Clinton-Bush election.

I guess Satan-Cthulu and Stalin-Hitler weren't available, so the American public has to settle for third choice.

True that is the technicality - but in reality this would be a big impediment to a same-state ticket

I see no plausible scenario where this country reelects another Bush. None. Zip. Nada.

I think Obama has ruined the word hope...........it's more like:
Hope in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up first.

Yep, it's looking like 2016 won't be the year I jump back in to national election voting.

That's not a technicality, it's the law. You can have two people from the same state on the same ticket.

If it comes down to a final choice between a Bush or a Clinton I think we should all strike.

Especially considering he's hired Negraponte and Wolfowitz as FP advisors.

He could hire Aristotle and Socrates and I don't think it would make a difference.

If he wins the nomination I'd call it a toss up.

Disagree. If he can gain enough ground with Hispanics I can see him beating Hilary.

Listening to a Hilary speech tonight, she's so fucking patronizing I don't think she'll get near the chick vote that some think.
