KSU football

Post by The Cats »

Coach Brian Bohannon predicted six wins, which would be a winning season. He cautioned that the long-range goal is to compete for a championship in five years.

Wonder where he's planning on getting six wins? I can see two, maybe three,

2015 Schedule
ETSU (start up FCS program)
Edward Waters (NAIA)
Shorter (Div II)
Dayton (FCS - Pioneer League)
Point (NAIA)
Gardner-Webb
Liberty
Monmouth
Charleston Southern
Coastal Carolina
Presbyterian

Another start-up.

I was thinking Kansas State (which admittedly wouldn't exactly fit in this forum), so I wasn't seeing those games as you were. Now that I've been corrected, it's clear that you're right. They'll POSSIBLY beat the two NAIA teams. I'm kinda iffy about the ETSU game, even given that they are ALSO a start-up. Beyond that, there's no way in heck they win anything, even against a Pioneer squad. Heck, Dayton was playoff-caliber (if there even IS such a thing in the Pioneer, but you know what I mean). That statement was mere hubris designed to get butts in the seats, nothing more. I'd think that 0-11 would even be possible, even granting that Shorter was 3-7 last year, Edward Waters was 4-6, and Point was 0-9. Waters and Point were Tail-End Charlie in The Sun (formerly the Florida Sun) Conference, having just joined last year as football associates. Yet they each have a year under their belts, which is something that Kennesaw will not. While your summation is likely correct (with the wins coming at the expense of Waters, Point, and Shorter), an 0-11 opening season is eminently possible. I don't see ANY Big South wins at all in the offing....

0-11 is not that realistic though, but I estimate the number of wins by the Owls this year at around 1-4 (all non-D I).
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

I could see them winning five games. We went 5-7 in our first year back in 2003, and could have easily won two or three more - and that was against a tougher schedule than what Kennesaw will play this year. The full scholarship FCS schools will likely all be losses but the rest could be winnable, depending on how quickly they're ramping things up.

Didnt Shorter upset somebody in the last year or two? Was it GSU?

GSU beat Shorter in their first season, but lost the next week to Lambuth
