CAA Won't Include COA, Replay at JMU, UR, Elon

Post by BDKJMU »

Reported on Wed:

CAA Football won't include cost of attendance

No stipend forconference schools

None of the CAA Football schools will provide cost of attendance, at least not this season, though there is no league policy on the topic.

The conference’s football branch completed its meetings Monday, and that was the primary takeaway. Cost of attendance is roughly $2,000 to $4,000 annually per student-athlete (varies by school), and is designed to be used for expenses not covered by athletic scholarships.

The NCAA is allowing cost-of-attendance stipends starting this coming school year. Most FBS schools are providing COA for football players. Liberty is the rare example of an FCS school that is.

Replay at UR, JMU, Elon
During the upcoming season, all games at Richmond, James Madison and Elon will use instant replay to assist officials. The technical ability to do so is available at those schools and not at all others in the league.

It's amazing to me that the Southland, which is a low budget league that has much smaller budgets than the CAA does, can have instant replay at all its games but the CAA can't. I mean, for example, Nichols State spent $7,816,300 on athletics in 2014 while Delaware spent $32,142,970 (http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). And Nichols State is set up to provide instant replay while Delaware ISN'T? How does that happen?
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Is Nichols State's press box less than 60 years old and bigger than a sea container? That might be the first clue. Our facilities were state of the fucking art during the Eisenhower administration.

But I'm not bitter.
