Two mistakes. F=ma is the relevant equation to your premise, not p=mv. "Lethal momentum" is the wrong phrase to describe what you're trying to describe, "lethal force" is correct. Note that a=dv/dt and that a force, (F), is actually proportional to the change in momentum, (p), with respect to time. Again, big difference.
Wrong. Momentum CAN determine lethality. Acceleration, while effecting force IS NOT a necessary variable to determine lethality.

I acknowledged my function error. Now you're just howling at the moon.

Try again.
You're speaking gibberish and displaying a fundamental lack of understanding of high school physics.

What describes what you think you're talking about is KE=(mv^2)/2 which shows us that if you double an objects velocity you increase its kinetic energy by a factor of 4. You may want to do a bit of remedial study before you try to bullshit us with science. :coffee:

You ever get the feeling god is a petulant bad child and that was his version of frying ants with a magnifying glass?
What I used to do is light something plastic on fire so that it was dripping flaming drops of molten plastic then bomb them with that.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

What was so great Columbus?

What was so great about Custer?

What was so great about Tut?

What was so great about Michael Jackson?
Then there's David Letterman. Never did get that one. Then today I had to see a bunch of David Letterman worship while watching news channels.

That should be a clue that Village Idiot is out of his league. Throwing around physics equations you looked up on Wikipedia doesn't impart an understanding of either theoretical or applied physics.

Declaring yourself "the Victor", is classic Dumb1B.

BTW, can either of provide a sample equation to determine the lethality of a lightclaymore? A lightsaber?

All this time he's been talking like he's a big numbers guy when really he's just an engineering school wash out.... :ohno:

Not that there is anything wrong with that, engineering is a rigorous curriculum to which many are called and few are chosen. But if you're going to earn an engineering degree you really do need to know the difference between force and momentum and you really should be able to bullshit extemporaneously on the subject, without getting exposed, on a freaking football forum.... :ohno:

Word to the wise, teabag, if you're going to try to pass yourself off as mathematically literate use statistics like JSO does. Harder to pin down than physics... :thumb:

Perhaps this won't interest any of you who had it all figured out when you were 10, but anyway here's an article about a brilliant MIT professor, a religious Orthodox Jew, who is on the cutting edge of a remarkable theory concerning the onset of intelligent life.

You're continuing to embarrass yourself and those of us that didn't wash out of Engineering school. The next time you're talking to actual degreed Engineers use m and v for mass and velocity. While M and V will be understood from the context, because you're talking to college graduates and both are technically acceptable, they (Engineers) will laugh and call you a wannabee behind your back. Generally we (Engineers) use "M" to represent molecular weight and "m" for mass. Same thing with "V", use it for volts and use "v" for velocity and you'll increase your chances of people thinking you're a real Engineer. Always capitalize "Engineer". :coffee:

Eh, details. You're starting to nitpick now though, like a guy pointing out a spelling error in a post. Technically correct (kudos to you), but contextually unimportant. My example of a tiny, low mass piece of space dust travelling at a high velocity still stands on its merit - obviously the momentum is described by m*V and then the resulting force when the thing hits something is described by m*a, with obviously the change in velocity over time (dV/dt), or the change in momentum, dictating the resulting force. The outcome is the same - a small bit of space dust, with little mass, still packs a pretty big punch. The movie "Gravity" was correct.

Hey, now wait a minute, if you're going to get all high and mighty about correct abbreviations, again, almost akin to an English major trying to point out a spelling mistake on a message board, then you can't make a mistake like you just did above. Nobody uses "M" to stand for molecular weight - normally "MW" is the abbreviation for molecular weight, or people just use the actual units of molecular weight (grams per mole for instance). "M" is also used for moments of force, but since you switched to chemistry I thought we should start there. "M" is also used for molarity, but that's about concentration, not weight per se. Anytime anyone uses "M" for molecular weight, it's shown as "M" with an underscore (never by itself - "M" by itself means molarity) for whatever atom you are expressing it in reference of since it's a ratio and dimensionless. If you're going to be a nitpicker, you need to be correct yourself, which in this case, you weren't. Shame on you. :coffee:

It's not like the dialogue is ever the attraction in these movies anyway.

Now, getting to see "Die Hard" with German voiceovers (would they do English voiceovers on the parts that are actually in German? That's an interesting questions) would be cool.

But Christmas in Vienna, that's pretty nice.
