Dunno, let's ask some teenagers how well they'd abide by a drug age limit...

...kinda like how well they abide by a drinking age.

So, do you support abstinence for teens also?

Then you haven't read the thread.

The initial story cited related Colorado potheads attempting to use a media campaign to change public perception of marijuana use as a benign recreational hobby.

It is not.

Within this thread I've posted several studies (research, science, not High Times opinion) which confirm addictive as well as psychological and even physiological harm to youth and adult chronic users.

Read. Learn.

I realize that marijuana users will deny the science, which is one if the insidious symptoms of addiction, but I will not be dissuaded by shout downs without any scientific foundation.

Tman- once marijuana is legalized then scientists will be able to study its effects in much greater detail. Part of the problem with narcotics research is the amount of red tape you have to wade through to get the stuff.

50 years from now, pot will be just as stigmatized as tobacco (especially when Big Tobacco takes the High Times route and tries to convince us that there are no health implications to breathing smoke into your lungs)

I personally cannot wait for packs of Mary Jane with Joe Camel on the cover, sporting dreadlocks and a silly grin

Blah, blah, blah...

STILL no science to refute the research WHICH PROVES marijuana is harmful.

If you disagree with the RESEARCH, prove the RESEARCH is wrong...

Harmful and legalization are not the same argument and you've done nothing to refute the positive benefits.

Funny how Tman takes any research suggesting that pot might be harmful as gospel, yet anything suggesting humans are harming the planet is agenda-driven commie propaganda. If he were a little sharper he might see the irony.

Once again, Beevis, you've slept through the debate.

There is no discussion of the contra...

...because that does not negate the PROVEN science about the harm.

Try, again.

I haven't read the thread all through cuz it's not that interesting to see someone doing the ol' silly "Reefer Madness" shit when they turn around and are happy as hell with another product that is quite similar in it's harm or damaging effects.

I was specifically talking about your last train of thought with the prepubescent bullshit. That is just absolutely fucking dumb man. Nobody says that this should be used for recreational children's use. But if you'd like to act as if it's something to hang your hat on then I'll watch you spin on it. I've seen many of these debates on here prior and I've never seen anyone say that pot was free of all problems and completely safe.

Quite the hypocritical stance you've taken though. Good work. Anyway, as I said, I'll leave ya to it because I just don't have the heart to argue something like this I guess.

I initially wasn't going to respond...until your "hypocritical" remark.

Never.

Never.

Never.

Not once in my life have I argued that alcohol consumption is "safe" or "better" than other forms of recreational substance abuse.

But that's not the point.

Your "hypocritical" alcohol-v-pot remark is one of the most common straw arguments made by potheads.

Specifically, "the point" I'm making is that marijuana use is neither safe nor healthy. Attempts by users/profiteers to market pot use as safe are pure propaganda, akin to the tobacco industry's targeting youth and use of imagery to convince people that smoking was "cool".

Period.

Marijuana is not a messianic solution to the world's problem, as most potheads believe, but rather, just another harmful chemical recreationally ingested by substance abusers.

Well I'm pretty sure you are reading into things what you'd like to. Safe is a relative thing and I've seen it compared favorably to alcohol in safety (not completely safe) vs. the idiotic comparison's made by the puritans to it being like heroin, crack, and other drugs.

But you are correct 89 I really haven't been up on what has been said here recently with that so I could be misguided but knowing the group I'm making an educated guess as to what was said prior.

More importantly, I was walking away from this one and you pulled me back in mother fucker! :notworthy:

Arguing that Marijuana is dangerous
Therefore it should be illegal - is not a strong position to debate from obviously

Arguing that Marijuana is harmful to children is also a position of weakness
Because nobody is debating that or disagreeing with that

I don't know of any strong position from which you can come at this thing
