Fuck Yeah Larry Hogan!

Post by 93henfan »

He just saved me $3.50 a week starting July 1.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced that tolls across the state will drop on July 1, after the Maryland Transportation Authority approved the decreases on Thursday morning.

The authority also eliminated the monthly maintenance fee charged to E-ZPass holders.

Hogan says he has heard repeated complaints from Marylanders about the tolls on the state’s roads, tunnels and bridges. During his campaign for governor, he pledged to reduce the burden of fees and taxes on the state’s businesses and residents.

“This is the first time tolls have been lowered in Maryland in 50 years. Most importantly, we are allowing Maryland families and businesses to keep more of their hard earned money, which helps our struggling economy,” Hogan says...

He's done well in his first few months...he provided adult leadership in Baltimore while the Mayor cowered in a fetal position, and he's keeping his campaign promises...

I knew my cuz would do good...

It something to help remedy the poorly built storm-water systems in Maryland to keep them from overwhelming the antiquated sewage systems and putting pure shit into the Chesapeake Bay and Anacostia River.

Forward-thinking states like Arizona already account for this by building separate storm water systems, having adequate drainage built in, and requiring storm-water retention basins built on all construction.

Majority of laws like this were passed when Arizona WAS a progressive state, under a Democratic Governor, with the help of reasonable and forward-looking GOP (who now can't win a primary in this state).

Sure, jon, sure.

Arizona had one Donk governor in the last 25+ years and the state legislature has been controlled by the Conks for the last 25+ years. Thank your lucky stars AZ isn't a "progressive" state, or you would be another Maryland, New Jersey, or Illinois. :kisswink:

Most of these laws were passed during the term of Bruce Babbitt, (78-87).

And Arizona has had two other Democratic Governors since then - Rose Mofford and Janet Napolitano.
So as usual, Baldy is speaking out of his ass.

The "Rain Tax". Taxed a percentage of your property that was supposedly impervious surface. But it was based on acreage. Made no difference between a giant shopping center or a rural property or farm. It was just a money grab.

Nope. Just a money grab. We already had storm water management laws in place.

Jon, I love how you can politicize something as basic as drainage standards/infrastructure funding, and their implementation thereof.

Back to the rain tax. Was there any other tax revenue dedicated solely to address drainage systems prior to the implementation of the rain tax?

Well there wasn't much of a choice - Corbett was digging PA in a hole every year. He stubbornly said he wouldn't raise taxes, and directly you can say that he didn't, but his budget policies which shortchanged education meant that local school districts around the state were forced to raise local taxes as a result of his budget. The list of what Corbett did well for the state was about as short as it could get.

Many PSU alums were gunning for him as well after the Sandusky scandal. It looks like Maryland has something that is sadly absent in most of this country and that's called leadership.
