Cage Match: Harris v Chomsky

Post by kalm »

For Chizzy…

This discussion dovetails with the "End of Liberalism" thread from awhile back.

A very entertaining exchange.

Professional atheist Sam Harris looks like an idiot in this email exchange with Noam Chomsky

The popular atheist and torture-supporter Sam Harris recently tried to “engineer a public conversation” with radical linguist Noam Chomsky “about the ethics of war, terrorism, state surveillance, and related topics.” Harris shared the exchanged publicly, chalking it up as an “unpleasant and fruitless encounter.”

Readers might disagree.

Chizzy's probably sleeping one off, so I'll respond first, after somehow making it through half of that unbelievably tedious exchange. If it's a real exchange-- it might be a troll job.

These two idiots are both pious frauds and deserve each other. I'll add them both to my 2015 celebrity deathwatch list. Chomsky might have been on it already.

Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something.

-- Plato

Both of these fuckers, Harris and Chomsky, not kalm and Ivytalk, just have to say something.

Not because I agree with them entirely (or at all on certain points)

Not dumb. Just doctrinaire, progressive, and full of nuance.

There's a difference I'm sure!
