Today is just another step in the road, not an all or nothing day. And frankly, it's just the oral argument day, not the day that the ruling itself is issued. Expect the SCOTUS to take a pretty neutral position on the question, especially since they bundled up so many different cases into this one. They will likely not make a national-implication ruling on gay marriage, thereby leaving it to the states individually to decide. They then will likely take the other case and say that gay marriages that were entered into legally in states where it is legal should be fully respected anywhere in the country, meaning that anyone can marry anyone and have it be respected (legally) anywhere in the country, but there will still be work done to allow those marriages to happen locally rather than crossing a state line to marry and then return. That's why today is just another step and not a make or break day.

Well if they say states have to accept all licenses issued in another state that could open up a whole can of worms. Besides driver's licenses (SCOTUS has never ruled that states have to accept DLs issued in other states, but it has been common practice with all states post WW II) there are also numerous professional licenses, concealed carry licenses, etc.

If say Virginia is forced to recognize a marriage license issued in Connecticut, then why wouldn't Connecticut be forced to accept a CCW license issued in VA, if they both are seen as constitutional rights?

You will probably get your way but the defining marriage as one man and one woman is not treating you any different than it treats anybody else just like defining marriage as involving two people isn't treating persons who might want to be in a marriage involving six people does. You have always been able to enter into marriage in the same way as anyone else can. It's just that you prefer a different type of arrangement.

It's an important day because it is one more step towards the time when, inevitably, the government will force religious groups that consider homosexual marriage to be an abomination to marry homosexuals or get out of the business of marriage. It'll be more forcing people to like and accept other people that they would prefer not to like and accept. One more step towards degrading liberty.
