VADM Nora Tyson has been nominated to command 3rd Fleet, based in San Diego. This makes her the first woman to command a combatant fleet. VADM Jan Tighe commands 10th Fleet, a cyber-defense command.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
