If that's not an April Fools joke it's another example of going over the top with RICO.

44 schools involved, 180 "educators", and the ringleader received $500K in payouts. If this isn't the textbook definition of Racketeering, what is?
kkkleany is just pissed because they're all black. If the criminals were white, he would have volunteered to drive the paddy wagon and drop them off at the prison.

No surprise this came out of Atlanta - in the same leagues of corruption as Detroit.

http://www.businessinsider.com/jamie-di ... nes-2015-3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Our exchange heated up quickly. By the time we got to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, we weren’t quite shouting, but we were definitely raising our voices. At this point -- early in 2013 -- Rich Cordray was still serving as director of the consumer agency under a recess appointment; he hadn’t yet been confirmed by the Senate, which meant that the agency was vulnerable to legal challenges over its work. Dimon told me what he thought it would take to get Congress to confirm a director, terms that included gutting the agency’s power to regulate banks like his. By this point I was furious. Dodd-Frank had created default provisions that would automatically go into effect if there was no confirmed director, and his bank was almost certainly not in compliance with the those rules. I told him that if that happened, “I think you guys are breaking the law.”
Suddenly Dimon got quiet. He leaned back and slowly smiled. “So hit me with a fine. We can afford it.”

This is a result of of two things...
1. The every-kid-can-be-a-surgeon-if-we-just-work-hard-enough-for-them, no-child-left-behind mentality.
2. Dingbattery on the part of the teachers to not make the test scores believable.

Eh, most of the teachers invovled took the plea deals that didn't include any jail time, so it's not like these 12 didn't have a better option. Despite the evidence they contended they didn't do anything wrong. Being stubborn is what landed these few in jail. Oh, that and out and out cheating on their part for half a decade.JohnStOnge wrote:If that's not an April Fools joke it's another example of going over the top with RICO.

Re: Teachers Jailed For Falsifying Test Results
I still can't figure out why anybody cares about this..?
In the bigger picture of grand fraud this is a total non-story
So what, they only got away with a little bit of money
The problem is, as I see it, we for some reason hold teachers to a higher standard than we hold Bankers
We hold teachers to a higher standard than we hold Lawyers
We hold teachers to a higher standard than we hold Political figures
I get the entertainment value of the story (obviously its hilarious and brimming with hypocrisy)
But this can't even hold a candle to the rampant fraud perpetrated on the American Tax payer in recent history

Fascinating observation - yes - I pay taxes so your kids can go to school
But my point was more sarcastically observing what matters on a grand scale
Crashing the entire worlds economy and getting richer while doing it will have about the same News Cycle as this Teacher Fraud case

Seriously, why can't they just pay a fine and be done with it. Jail time seems a bit excessive.Chizzang wrote:Cluck U wrote:

Re: Teachers Jailed For Falsifying Test Results
OK Dumb FVCK!, First, no teacher who has to put up with the crap in APS needs to go to jail. Take their teacher certification away and place them on probation, but to put them in jail for 20 years. These Repukes who jacked up our economy in 2008 are not in jail. Dick Chaney and George Bush who lied to start the second Gulf War is not in jail. You are never a teacher in the Atlanta Public school system, just a glorified social worker.Baldy wrote:44 schools involved, 180 "educators", and the ringleader received $500K in payouts. They didn't want to cop a plea like all the other implicated teachers did. Once you make them take you to court then you risk what happened. Probably didn't help that they didn't think they did anything wrong.kalm wrote:Seriously, why can't they just pay a fine and be done with it. Jail time seems a bit excessive.Chizzang wrote:
