In case you haven't noticed, "relations" of all kinds are bad all over the place. The Joos versus the Ay-rabs, the Muslins versus the Muslins, the Muslins versus anyone with half a brain, the black blacks in Trinidad Tobago versus the white blacks in Trinidad Tobago, the Ukraine bad guys versus the Ukraine bad guys, the spics versus the blacks, the spics versus the whites...it goes on and on.

It used to be the Irish versus the Wops, the Wops versus the WASPS, the Germanic peeps versus the rest of the country, the Nips versus the rest of the country (we put them behind barbed wire, for Christ's sake), the blacks against the whites (we hanged them from trees, for Christ's sake), etc.

People routinely got dragged out and beaten or killed, so I am not under the impression that things are worse these days, unless you are getting dragged out and beaten or killed (or targeted by a missile).

As far as the 60's go, things might have been peaceful in some parts of the country, but in other parts there were riots and the national Guard was brought out.

So again, I don't believe things are worse as a whole. I do believe that incidents can flare up tensions (thanks, Obama), but you'd have to be very pessimistic to think that things are getting worse. Hell, that chump Steve Smith (I think it might be him...they all look alike) pimps for Oberto Beef Jerky, and I still eat the stuff.

History has shown that people, if given a small reason, will attack and kill "others" who are different. Theme du jour...color, religion, language,nationality, looks, disrespect...doesn't matter, really. All you need is a little spark. Always has been that way, always will be that way.

Seems to me that things are a lot worse than they used to be, but it could be simply perception vs. reality. Part of that is media induced due to the 24 hour media cycle and the need to fill air time, some is due to Sharpton et al fanning the flames. I don't know if things are truly worse from a race relations perspective or whether it's simply covered more in-depth by the media. Once the media fixates on something (i.e. the recent fraternity scandals) you'd believe that every one in the country is the devil incarnate.

IMHO, there's no question that the AG and President have been much more involved in shining a light on Ferguson and Trayvon and the Harvard beer summit. I have no problem if there's truly something to investigate, but it seems that the administration spouting off opinions of guilt before the investigation does nothing but foment racial hate and distrust.
